  1. Yeah I just looked that up myself. No harm in my view in tweaking the lineup order a little depending on the starter so no big deal as long as the right guys are in the lineup.
  2. Left handed starter on the mound today.
  3. JP's *best* team won 87 games and still likely wouldn't have made the playoffs a single time even with expanded playoffs. This doesn't really feel like an apples to apples comparison if you are going to legitimately say that JP had more success in his tenure as Blue Jays GM. That makes no sense whatsoever.
  4. Ok genius why don't you go ahead and inform me of what the JP era Blue Jays accomplished.
  5. I'd absolutely lump Springer into that total to make a combined 0.1 FWAR for the 3 of them 5 weeks into the season.
  6. By the time Atkins took the mic Schneider had already chucked himself in front of the oncoming bus so I don't see why Atkins should have been fired. That would just be a meaningless sacrifice to placate fan anger. If the team continues to flounder as it has for the first month and a bit Atkins will have fully earned his pink slip.
  7. Holy crap there's some negative posters around here but this really takes the cake. There has been a lack of recent post season success no doubt but how many post season appearances did JP teams have exactly?
  8. I recall hearing a rumor that the Angels hands were tied with regards to trading Ohtani due to the various marketing deals that were contingent on his presence with the team.
  9. The team actually has a solid middle of the batting order and a passable bottom of the order. If/when the top 3 gets their s*** together the team should score plenty of runs. 4. Turner 154 wRC+ 5. Varsho 131 wRC+ 6. Jansen 191 wRC+ 7. Schneider 127 wRC+ 8. IFK/Clement 94/104 wRC+ 9. Biggio 102 wRC+
  10. He largely has already returned to form as the last 3 starts are very solid. All that's missing is command of the splitter and then he'll be peak Gausman again.
  11. I guess we can take solace that the offense can't get any worse...right?
  12. I find it weird that someone would hate Joe Siddal to such a degree. My only complaint when he's doing color commentary during broadcasts is that he tends to talk a little too much like he's getting paid by the word or something.
  13. This is 2 out of 3 solid starts for Alek. In his first AAA start it sounds as though he was largely BABIP'ed to death as his FIP was solid at 2.19. His second AAA start was pretty good with 2 ER over 5.2 innings of work and he allowed no walks. The 3rd start was the disaster where he had no command and walked a ton of hitters and garnered a lot of solid contact against, and that was followed up by the gem yesterday. All told in the 3 starts where he appeared to be commanding his pitches and working in the strike zone he walked only 3 batters in a combined 14.2 innings so it appears as though his strike throwing ability and command are improving a lot over time.
  14. It will be interesting to see over time how the braced ligaments hold up compared to the fully recovered ligaments.
  15. There are a lot of positives to this start. He averaged 94.2 MPH on the heater and induced a 57% whiff rate on 13 of 23 sliders. He threw 62 of 92 pitches in the strike zone as well.
  16. I can't recall so much negative energy being expelled towards a utility player in my time on this board. Biggio is a guy who needs to earn his playing time by producing results, and when he's going well at the plate he can become a starter during the duration of the "hot" streak, and when he's struggling at the plate he can have his playing time reduced and only be used in favorable matchups. It's really odd to see so much complaining about the guy this season when he's helped the team win with 0.5 FWAR in the first month of the season and still sits at 110 wRC+. He's a notorious slow starter as his career has seen an average 67 wRC+ for his career in the first month of the season so it's good he's managed to keep his head above water up to this point.
  17. I don't think the outfield defense is going to necessarily be an issue as both of Biggio and Schneider have been approximately league average in LF/RF and Springer should still be able to provide solid center field play when needed.
  18. The last I heard he was expected to get back to throwing shortly. I haven't heard any prognosis on timeline for return however.
  19. Gausman hasn't really gotten the splitter working yet but he's been getting by with great fastball location recently. Kirk hit just like today in spring training so hopefully this is a sign of good things to come. Jansen has been hot with the bat to start so it would be huge for the lineup to have both catchers contributing some offense.
  20. The quintessential Blue Jays victory based on great pitching and elite defense.
  21. I loved Varsho's reaction to the play.
  22. Springer has been tremendous defensively this season.
  23. Man Bo is just so broken at the plate right now.
  24. He had a great ten pitch at bat and fouled off a ton of pitches so he fully earned his walk. Sometimes you just gotta tip your hat to the batter.
  25. That fly ball was a massive butt clencher.
