  1. This one actually has me a little bit intrigued. Word is that Jiminez has improved his body a ton (although who reportedly hasn't at this early stage of spring training), and the idea of this guy working with Popkins to iron out the rough edges a little makes me wonder if there's a little potential in his bat. He still possessed a much faster than average bat speed in 2024 so there could still be some thunder in this bat. The Blue Jays high performance department has also been rather successful with allowing previously injury ridden guys like Springer and Kiermaier remain on the field more frequently as they are very effective at load management for the players that require a little more time off. Having said all of that Jiminez has been one of the larger top prospect disappointments in recent memory so it's also entirely possible he's pretty much cooked as an effective major league player.
  2. I'm actually surprised he managed to pass the notoriously difficult Orioles physical.
  3. Orioles had a nice little offseason, albeit a year later than they should have given the wasted 2025 season. The AL East looks to be a complete dogfight for the upcoming season as I expect everyone save for the Rays to be highly competitive.
  4. I don't see much of a role for him on the Blue Jays. He's a butcher in the field and with Springer firmly entrenched as the primary DH there just isn't much of an avenue to playing time.
  5. I'm holding out faint hope that Santander might be able to be a useful contributor later this season but based on how last season turned out I'm not going to hold my breath.
  6. I suspect that the intention was for Santander to share outfield/DH duties with Springer until Springer's deal expired with Santander shifting into more of a DH only role over time. It complicated matters that Springer had a monster bounceback season with the bat but morphed into a horrible outfield defender at the same time. Santander got off to a horrible start over the first 3'ish weeks and was showing signs of coming out of his funk shortly prior to blowing out his shoulder. We've barely seen a healthy Santander in a Blue Jays uniform and who knows what he'll look like once he finally comes back.
  7. Lukes produced a 118 wRC+ first half and was sitting at 112 wRC+ at the start of September so second half dropoff is primarily a result of a slow month of September alone. I agree he was misplaced hitting second in the lineup as he has more of a bottom of the lineup skillset however.
  8. It's kind of absurd how the knives have come out for Santander because of an injury he suffered in the field.
  9. I was expecting a bounce back season based on the assumption that his shoulder was healthy.
  10. FFS it was announced that Santander is undergoing labrum surgery and will be out 5-6 months. Also announced was that Bowden Francis will need UCL surgery but that's a smaller blow given his status as more of a depth arm.
  11. There's certainly a lot of guesswork involved when the before and after photos aren't showing the same pose.
  12. I thought it looks like Vlad is noticeably slimmer, particularly around the love handles is the most apparent. In a perfect world he'd be starting the offseason in the after picture level of conditioning instead of yoyo'ing up and down after every season.
  13. I must have missed that one.
  14. I would have thought you would have learned something about your similar comments about wanting to fire Varsho and Yimi into the sun but apparently that's too much to ask for.
  15. It sounds like Jonn wants Santander fired into the sun.
  16. Are you so soon to forget that Santander was coming off of a 44 home run career season and was only 29 years old?
  17. I'd wager it might be best to see how Ponce's improved stuff and arsenal plays against major league hitters before assigning a defined role.
  18. I was thinking it was more like you're both Sid 😁
  19. That remains to be seen.
  20. I think the home run rate has potentially already returned to normal as Hoffman only surrendered a single home run over September and the playoffs. Of course the single homer came at an awful time though.
  21. I agree that Donovan would be far more than a depth player and he would deepen the lineup nicely against right handed pitching. Baseball Trade Values has him valued at $30 million surplus which seems awfully high as that's equivalent value to Nimmala for instance.
  22. It would actually be more than an extra $32 million once you factor in the 90% luxury tax the Blue Jays would be paying.
