  1. Both guys are likely to be utilized as depth starters starting the year in Buffalo.
  2. If Bauer is willing to sign with Toronto that would most likely get it done.
  3. Take out Grichuk and replace him with Tellez.
  4. Bo needs to clean up his hacking tendencies a bit if he's to continue in the number 2 spot. Kevin Pillar displayed more discipline and a better K/BB split than Bo in 2020, hopefully that's just a shortened season blip from a young player that was a little anxious at the plate.
  5. Odorizzi is reportedly searching for a 3 year deal, however in this market and with the rough season he had I doubt he'll get an offer like that. He can serve as a cautionary tale against second tier starters turning down multi year contracts in favor of the qualifying offer, there's a good chance he'll end up short on overall earnings compared to had he accepted the Jays offer last offseason.
  6. Holy s*** it looks like your keyboard is having an aneurysm.
  7. Can't say I'm terribly disappointed by this news. Starting pitching and infield help are far more pressing needs than adding another DH to the roster.
  8. 100% Ozuna for me. He's by far the youngest of the three so should provide the most years of prime production. He also has the highest ceiling of the 3 as well. Turner would be nice in that infield is still a need, but I don't think he's likely to be very good 2 years from now given his advanced age.
  9. That would be just fine. Playing time for Rowdy might be at a bit of a premium as Vladdy Jr. would obviously take precedence most games. Rowdy would make a nice option to have off the bench to pinch hit late in games when he's not in the starting lineup though.
  10. Playing 2nd base almost gave the guy a nervous breakdown, he's just so much more natural in the outfield that it may be harmful to move him back.
  11. I'm definitely not worried, more of a nervous excitement I guess. I would surmise Gurriel is likely to be the odd man out, I'd keep Teoscar on board since he can cover in center field from time to time, where Gurriel is likely limited to left.
  12. Not thrilled about the fit on the current roster, there are already a plethora of guys whose best position is at DH. I like both Gurriel and Teoscar a lot, it will be interesting to see who is moved out to clear space. This certainly makes for a very stout lineup though, this team is going to scare a crazy amount of runs.
  13. With the Springer addition there should be no room on the major league roster for Fisher, it's time to move on. He should start packing his bags for Baltimore.
  14. I wouldn't expect a peep out of Marcus Stroman on this. Praising the current front office would likely be a fate worse than death for a vindictive little prick like Stroman.
  15. I'm super pumped about this pickup. I was starting to grow a bit antsy that Atkins and the front office would walk away and not seal this deal, but they went ahead and got their number 1 target. Now they just need to add a starter and maybe a little infield help and they are fully ready to rock.
  16. I sure as s*** prefer Springer being signed for 6 years vs doing the same for LeMahieu.
  17. If this only takes 5 years as expected I think the contract should provide plenty of value through it's duration. This is likely nothing like the crazy contracts of yesteryear handed out to the likes of Cano and Pujols that ran for 10 years and took the players into their late 30's/early 40's. Springer is young enough that he shouldn't turn into a pumpkin overnight.
  18. Jays missing out on Springer at this point would feel worse than the Darvish and Ervin Santana scenarios combined.
  19. Yates and springer both signing same day would soothe some nerves in the fanbase.
  20. Can't forget about Seager as well in the top free agent shortstop targets. I'd rank the shortstops as: 1. Francisco Lindor - probably best defender of this bunch, question marks with the bat have me pondering switching him with Story, very close 1-2 for me 2. Trevor Story - very well rounded game, speed/power defence all rolled into one 3. Corey Seager - possibly best bat of all of these players, but most likely to have to move off of short stop 4. Carlos Correa - awesome player when he's healthy, great bat and glove, but drops for me since he misses so much time due to injury 5. Javier Baez - super flashy glove, but too many questions with the bat due to high K low BB approach I have a hard time choosing who will be best bang for buck contract, first 4 players all have perennial 4+ win upside and will get paid accordingly. I suspect Lindor will be worst bang for buck though due to having the most name recognition among this group, he will almost certainly obtain a true superstar contract that he may have a hard time living up to as he ages.
  21. I could certainly live with that. Hopefully some infield help is acquired before the offseason is finished, Turner would be great but a cheaper addition would be fine to paper things over for a season. I was hoping for an impact starter to be added by trade or free agency, but most available options are gone at this point.
  22. I'm very optimistic about Martin's future potential as well, but I think it's a bit premature to assume that he can be a good quality major league center fielder. If he does end up being better than Springer in a year or two, you can move Springer to a corner and likely receive plus defence along with a 130 WRC+ bat. That's still a very valuable player, and at that point either Gurriel Teoscar can be moved out to upgrade another area of need (assuming he continues with his offensive breakout). Having "too many" good players is a very good problem to have. I like the idea of a Realmuto signing. If the Jays strike out on good free agent pitchers then upgrading two up the middle defensive positions with well rounded stars would be a good fallback option. Adding Springer and Realmuto would greatly upgrade two key positions on the diamond, then some of the good young catching depth can be moved out as necessary.
  23. Holy s*** this guy is a world class creep. I hope that the Mets organization doesn't turn a blind eye to this like the White Sox did with the Tony LaRussa DUI charge.
  24. I'd much rather the Jays look for diamonds in the rough than sign totally washed up veterans.
  25. I'm waiting with baited breath to see who walks more batters in 2021. There's an epic competition brewing between Chatwood and Ray. From looking at Chatwood's peripherals at first glance it appears as though he may have been the victim of bad luck. He rocked a .400 BABIP, but his EV numbers weren't that bad. Statcast doesn't think he was unlucky though, as they have his xERA only a few points off of his actual ERA. So he might actually be kind of terrible at actually producing outs. Stuff looks top notch though, his spin rates are upper scale stuff.
