  1. He's quietly been the most effective reliever in the Jays pen. He had a rough month of May last season but he's been great since then with a 1.83 ERA/2.66 FIP. I think he's been a little underutilized so hopefully Charlie can find ways to get into games a little more frequently.
  2. I never said the home run was a fluke but the results for the rest of the season almost certainly are. As Jimcanuck mentioned early season WRC+ alone isn't terribly meaningful on it's own without peaking under the hood to see if that result is in any way sustainable. Grichuk can be happy with the results so far but he can't be happy with the quality of contact he's been producing. Do you think a .452 BABIP is something that's going to continue? He has a career BABIP of .292 for comparison. He's managed to build himself a bit of a cushion based on extreme good fortune with batted balls but he's due for a serious correction in the future.
  3. He had a nice game today but his numbers are largely undeserved up to this point. Grichuk was rocking a -3.8 launch angle and a 69% ground ball rate heading into action today along with a bottom of the barrel 85 MPH exit velocity.
  4. Definitely. If you only watch the second half of that play you would think he's the best left fielder in the game.
  5. That was the complete Gurriel experience. Bad attempt at a sliding catch but otherworldly flat footed throw to nail the runner at third base.
  6. Maybe not muscle but certainly possible for it all to be lean weight. What matters is he's obviously stronger and managed to rejig his swing to properly take advantage of it.
  7. The entire Astros organization are going to have Santiago Espinal nightmares after this series.
  8. The pen continues to be nails this season. Unlike last year I think it has a chance to continue.
  9. I read on here recently that Espinal might actually be good.
  10. Say what? Biggio's advanced stats are appropriately terrible this year, just like his play on the field would lead you to believe.
  11. That certainly won't help Cavan's popularity around here.
  12. With a more competent framer behind the plate he may have issued fewer walks.
  13. Time to shelve that cutter, the pitch is absolute s***.
  14. Collins should have gotten a good luck at Tucker's throwing arm on the previous play, terrible baserunning there.
  15. Yeah managed to limit the damage when things could have easily got out of hand. I don't expect Kikuchi will be given much leash the rest of the game though.
  16. He doesn't really look like he has that kind of flexibility to me.
