  1. It's huge getting into the Rays bullpen in the 4th inning the day before a doubleheader.
  2. Wtf? Only 1 run allowed through 4 and that should have been cut down at the plate.
  3. Watching Kirk grit his teeth and turn on the afterburners is one of life's greatest pleasures.
  4. A double for you and a double for you and a double for you...
  5. Jays doing what they do so often and teeing off the starter second time through the order.
  6. Umm 3rd inning man and score is 1-0, no need to jump off the ledge so soon.
  7. Yeah he did a good job to limit the Rays to the single run and could have escaped with no damage easily enough.
  8. Decent start for Berrios here. He threw some decent 2 seamers and curveballs, but also got away with some 4 seam meatballs.
  9. I need to see more of Castillo before assigning any kind of MLB utility to him. His expected stats are vomit worthy as he's allowed a 70% hard hit rate on balls in play leading to an xERA of over 10. This should even out over time but the guy is red flags galore early on.
  10. A few high quality additions to the pen will allow the remaining members to slot into more appropriate leverage levels. Removing the deadweight members from the pen will also allow the club to keep games close more frequently as well instead of regularly seeing gasoline poured on the fire by guys that don't even belong in MLB, let alone pitching in leverage situations.
  11. I think Bo is just in a bit of a slump. For the first three weeks of June he was right at his career average with a 118 WRC+. His k rate was 23.2%, and his walk rate was nice at 9.5%. The last week has been pretty rough with a 54 WRC+ and walk rate of 3.7% and k rate of 33.3%. The small sample of bad at bats has a large effect on the overall numbers for the month. When we look at a larger sample of games, going back two months he's produced a 125 WRC+, and been worth 1.6 FWAR. This is a 6 win pace over a full season. He's far too talented of a player for this to be more than a bit of a speed bump where he's battling a bit. This appears to be much the same situation for Teoscar as well. For the first three weeks of June he really mashed, with a 180 WRC+, 5.7% walk rate and 26.4% k rate. The last week has been a struggle with a 41 WRC+, 0% walk rate and 38.1% k rate. Just like Bo we've seen enough of him by this point to know this is nothing more than a slump as he's had plenty of time to establish himself as a well above average hitter. Going back over his last 2 full seasons worth of play he's about a 4 win player per season and a 130 WRC+ bat. He'll emerge from this and continue to mash once again.
  12. That's why I'm legitimately baffled that some people are advocating for the front office to sell at the trade deadline. This team has a very solid base of talent and has yet to fire on all cylinders as a team, yet is still in a good position in the standings. It seems every time the club has a rough week or two some people tend to panic over a small segment of games where the team looks bad instead of looking at the season as a 6 month venture that is going to naturally have peaks and valleys throughout.
  13. LMAO that reminds of when the Jays dugout used a giant foam finger for high fives from Brett Lawrie for celebrations on the bench.
  14. If this team can finally get the starters, offence and bullpen firing on all cylinders at the same time they will be able to go on an epic run reminiscent of the second half of 2021. Early on the starters and bullpen were good but the offence was s***, then the offence caught fire but the starters and bullpen were both s***. The team is good defensively and has an elite offensive lineup, but it would be a shame if this is all undone by bad pitching, particularly from the bullpen.
  15. He's built from the same mold as Kevin Pillar in that they both completely lack in self preservation instinct. Buxton and Kiermaier are afflicted with this as well.
  16. Tabby is awful but Dan Shulman has the ability to raise his broadcast partners to the point that he's only semi-terrible. When Pat is placed with Buck the two of them rely so much on tired baseball cliches that it's basically unlistenable.
  17. Having somebody blow a start every 5 day goes further than just losing that game. Having your bullpen cover 7 or 8 innings blows up the pen and can really affect the team for the next week. We've seen recently how the blowups by Kikuchi and Berrios have overly taxed the bullpen, and as a knockoff result you end up seeing low leverage pitchers being forced into leverage situations.
  18. This team is going nowhere if they don't make additions to the bullpen. Hopefully they can eventually get Berrios turned around, but another starter is almost certainly a must as planning on both Berrios and Kikuchi getting their s*** together is an awfully tall order. It would be a shame to waste this offence as it very well maybe the best lineup in baseball now that the team is clicking offensively.
  19. That's a good point if they are missing quite a few players, but the Jays aren't exactly playing at full strength either. Ryu is out for the season, and they are missing Garcia, Merryweather and Pearson from the pen. Each team is missing plenty of contributors so this does not somehow take away from a nice victory for the Jays last night. No excuses are needed here, the better team for the evening won the game.
  20. A depleted Red Sox team? They were missing one player, that's not exactly a team decimated with injuries or something.
  21. Lots of interesting s*** from tonight's game. Teo had one of the worst lazy don't give a f*** baserunning blunders I think I've ever seen. How can you seriously manage to get thrown out on the bases on a pop-up to the catcher, especially with speed like he has? That's almost bad enough to warrant a game on the bench to wake the f*** up but that would likely just mean more Tapia in the lineup. I couldn't believe Charlie didn't give Stripling a chance to pitch in the 6th inning, especially given how short handed the bullpen is right now. Expecting to cover 4 innings against the Red Sox with a 2 run lead intact was asking for way too much, and all too predictably they coughed up the lead. Thank f*** the Red Sox have a s***** bullpen as well. Kirk needs to be in the lineup more often. I get that the team wants Springer manning the DH spot with regularity, but if having to choose between Springer and Kirk getting regular at bats it should be an easy choice to run Kirk out there. It's certainly nice to have one of baseball's hottest hitters off of the bench but the man needs more at bats than he's been receiving.
  22. Wacha's good batted ball fortune is completely being reversed in this game.
