    I don't have exact numbers to back this up but it feels like the team had a lot of rockets finding their way into Yankees gloves over the course of the game. At least one of these was with runners in scoring position as Kirk's line drive in the later innings leading to a double play against was an example.

    This post still has merit as the team is struggling in recent years to develop outfield prospects. They have no good outfield replacements in the upper minors right now, and potential help like Gabriel Martinez is still years away.

    I'm not buying into Moreno just yet. His offensive numbers are looking a bit like a mirage, as he's rocking a .398 BABIP at the moment without peripherals to back it up. His ground ball rate is nearly 60%, so it appears as though his impressive at a glance batting average is largely empty and largely dependent on ground balls finding holes. He has displayed minimal power and rarely walks, so the xWOBA is all of .298 vs actual of .326 so he may eventually see a correction in his results. According to Statcast he's below average both in framing and blocking, so the bulk of his defensive value is from throwing runners out on the bases. Eventually teams will stop running on him so this will limit the defensive impact he's able to make by eliminating baserunners, and that will leave most of his value coming from singles at the plate.

    I would have rather had Swanson use his best pitches against Judge rather than get burned when he fed Judge a middle middle cement mixer slider.

    How does the bolded section make any sense? It's a sign that the organization trusted that Walker was a quality pitching coach and that they believed in his ability to help out the pitchers at the major league level. Does not replacing Walker mean that the new front office would have no idea how to develop pitching in the minor leagues for some reason? I really don't understand what you are getting at. I always love how wait until the team loses a few games against a division rival then the incessant doom posts come out in full force. Fire the GM, fire the pitching coach, gut the entire organization's pitching related coaching staff, burn down the stadium etc. You would think we are members of a suffering fanbase like the A's the way you get to carrying on.

    If by some miracle the team actually has too many effective major league relieves without options they can always swing some trades to make room.

    Manoah's only usable pitch is his two seam fastball so it stands to reason Kirk is going to call for a lot of fastballs.

    Holy f*** that's bad. This season feels like a steady stream of bad umpires constantly trying to one up each other to see who has the worst umpire scorecard by the end of the season.

    I don't think Castillo was available to be traded for at the time when Berrios was acquired.

    He's legitimately one of baseball's best hitters when he's on a patented hot streak but then he goes into prolonged funks for weeks and even months at a time where he accomplishes nothing offensively.

    Bellinger's best month over the entire 2021-2022 seasons saw him produce a 125 WRC+. It's certainly far from a guarantee but his 152 WRC+ over his first 28 games of 2023 make it appear possible that he's figured some stuff out.

    Bass took far more abuse on Twitter after reporting this little incident than his wife ever did. So much so that he apparently deleted his account afterwards.

    Unlike you I actually enjoy when a player makes changes to his swing/routine/approach etc. and then experiences success as a result. It remains to be seen if Bellinger can recreate his April success but I'm not the type to make grand assumptions that just because he had several bad seasons in a row that he's automatically going to return to that previous form based on a few weeks where he isn't experiencing the same kind of success.

    Bass looks to be rounding into form recently, although much like Nate he's barely pitched over the last few weeks so it's tough to get a good read.

    Are you going to point out the same with Matt Chapman who had a 49 WRC+ for the month of May heading into today? Didn't think so. A bad few weeks doesn't erase an entire month of success you absolute nincompoop.

    Moreno's .300 is about as empty as possible with little power and next to no walks, so I won't lose any sleep over that right now.

    Ugliest game I've watched in a long time on both sides, thank f*** the boys pulled it out in the 9th. Super frustrating game, between the barrage of errors in the field, errors on the bases, inability to take advantage of golden scoring opportunities, and the blind idiot calling balls and strikes behind the plate there were a lot of reasons this game could have turned out badly. The pen was superb today in picking up Kikuchi after a rough outing.
