  1. Manoah also needs to start airing out his pitches more early on. He simply doesn't have the kind of stuff to do the Verlander routine where he builds up his velocity as the game goes on. 91 MPH heaters in the heart of the zone are pretty easy for the opposition to square up, but when he's sitting at 94 MPH he seems to be able to get away with more mistake pitches.
  2. I can't wait for Barriera getting into minor league games so we can see how he's been progressing. He already possessed a very nice set of tools pre-draft so even if he doesn't explode onto the scene ala Tiedemann he should be a very fun prospect to follow.
  3. I can't help but feel Kikuchi's spring training/early season start has serious shades of Robbie Ray's monster 2021 season. Ray turned his career around that offseason with twice a day workouts and showed up in spring training a new and improved version of himself with far better command. Kikuchi worked in Driveline in the offseason and also showed up in spring training with far better command. I'm not predicting Kikuchi is going to win a Cy Young award any time soon but he's turned himself into a guy who looks like far more than a 5th starter up to this point.
  4. I hear ya, at this point it's pretty apparent that injury issues are likely the only thing that will be able to hold Tiedemann back.
  5. This looks like the same guy from 2021 after the trade.
  6. Barger hasn't exactly been lighting the world on fire at AAA up to this point either (79 WRC+, 32.6% k rate) so until he finds his stroke he's not an option either.
  7. I suspect he's the most likely candidate to take over 3rd base once Chapman inevitably leaves in free agency.
  8. I think the club may need to look into upgrading Espinal if he doesn't pick up his game offensively. He's been flat out terrible for over half a season now. Dating back to June 16 of last season he's produced an absolutely awful 60 WRC+ and has only reached replacement level FWAR of 0.0 due to great defence.
  9. Yeah I believe it was reported during spring training that he's gained a few extra ticks on his fastball.
  10. Robberse is off to a great start this season. He put up another very good start, 5 IP 2H 1 ER 3 BB 8K. Season ERA at 1.86 with 16K in 9.2 innings.
  11. In Rivera's defence Vlad probably would have ran though a stop sign anyway so he might as well have sent him. 😁
  12. You should seriously go f*** yourself. This garbage isn't wanted here.
  13. I remember the previous play as well. Dude has to cover his eyes with his glove or something.
  14. You got slammed because you were one step short of suggesting the team should lock their players up in cages during the offseason only letting them out to train.
  15. I would hope if he continues to struggle like this he would at least consider spending more offseason time in the pitching lab or consider heading to somewhere like Driveline.
  16. I'm not terribly worried about the prospects given up but the 7 year deal is far more concerning.
  17. Yeah the Vlad error was a f***up by the umpire. Bo's error was largely inconsequential, so really only the throwing error by Kirk was an actual Blue Jays error that factored into the way the game unfolded.
  18. His father's knees were ruined by his years playing on the artificial turf in Montreal so he's probably not a great comparison.
  19. His command was certainly still quite a bit off, but at least this time he was largely missing out of the strike zone instead of throwing cookies in the middle of the zone.
  20. No they didn't. The Jays played largely the "A" lineup and Bassitt pitched a pretty decent game. The best/most reliable bullpen arms pitched in the game as well. How was this game handed to the Angels in your view?
  21. Decent enough lineup although I'm not sure what Merrifield has done this season to warrant hitting so high in the order.
  22. When you are complaining about guys on the Jays not producing there are plenty of targets ripe for the picking. The primary option right now and easy choice should be Brandon Belt who would likely find himself DFA'd shortly if not for his $9 million contract.
