  2. Wow I was wrong, I thought a one year pillow deal (if he chose that route) would still easily exceed 20M
  3. Yeah no arguing he's been successful by many measures, I just think there's less confidence about his ability to sustain it when you start looking under the hood. He's had the benefit of pitching his home games in one of the most pitcher friendly environments. Again like his counting stats, the home/road splits aren't necessarily showing a current deficiency, but more so just the potential to blow up. A career xFIP of 3.67 at home vs 4.42 on the road is notable.

  5. I'm just assuming the opt out is a foregone conclusion, there's no chance he takes a 16M guarantee. Someone would offer a much larger one year pillow contract if he wants to go that route, otherwise he can still get a massively larger total guarantee.
  6. I would agree that I'd still expect someone to take a proven innings eater at that cost. However, I was looking at his savant page when I saw this news earlier, and to me it shows a guy who could really fall off at any time. There's some scary red flags there in terms of lack of fastball velocity and generally getting hit rather hard. He's propped up by an elite walk rate and high end chase rate - which for me adds up to a guy who will be toast if the league adjusts to not chasing his breaking stuff outside the zone. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/shota-imanaga-684007?stats=statcast-r-pitching-mlb
  7. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2025/11/mlb-rumors-top-trade-candidates-offseason.html MLBTR Top 40 off season trade candidates. Right away drawn to the idea of adding a pair of Cardinals from near the top of the list. Brendan Donavan has the exact type of high contact approach and positional utility that would fit in so well with what we're doing here (or anywhere really for that matter). Sonny Gray would really solidify the top of the rotation behind Gaus and Trey, assuming we could get them to eat a sizable chunk of his 40M commitment. Looking at the FA market for starting pitching, I think there's the potential for a lot of mistakes to be made. Gray for one year at ~ 25 million seems like a much lesser risk than throwing that kind of money around on longer term deals in this pitching market.
  8. This is infuriating, all he needed was an average lead and he's beating Smith's foot to the plate to win the game. Shouldn't have even slowed to slide (headfirst or not) but rather just sprinted through the plate like his life was on the line.
  9. Thanks bud, I made it a puff instead haha. Went cold turkey on drinking during the Yankees series (I think game 2 was the last night) and haven't had a sip in however many weeks that's been
  10. I recall reading the same about his numbers falling off a cliff against velocity over 94MPH (it was from the MLBTR article about his posting) but they also did mention that it's a pretty small sample, he only saw about 200 pitches above that speed all season. Perhaps he'd simply adapt with more exposure against higher velocity, it seems like a legit concern though.
  11. Hopefully he sucks
  12. I was so cooked before the game last night, I didn't even notice I had the Raps game on until I got a message complaining about the pre game ceremony
  13. So fun to go back and read these threads from when some of you were in peak off season despair mode.
  14. For a brief moment I didn't see Schneider listed (I still look for him in the INF rather than OF) and thought they had swapped him out for France. I wouldn't have been on board with that, but don't hate seeing France in the mix. He just seems like the type of battle tested veteran who comes up with the big clutch pinch hit AB in October

  16. Nope I was spinning gold from straw throughout this thread
  17. The second this trade came to light, we all immediately felt a connection between Myles Straw and Roki Sasaki. We assumed it meant Roki was Toronto bound, but the cosmic prophecy was actually much deeper. We felt a bond between these two players, because their fates were destined to collide. It is written in the stars that the Blue Jays shall win the WS with a walk off liner by Myles Straw, driven deep into the forehead of Roki Sasaki. Never has the future seemed so pre determined, this was always the way
