    Zack Kassian has to be the dumbest guy in hockey. Bob Mac just announced he's been summoned for an in person hearing, meaning he can get 5+ games, and he definitely should.

    Hopefully within a year we'll have Ryu and Pearson forming a legit front of the rotation duo and some steady innings eaters behind them, with SWR starting to knock down the door. Perhaps someone out of the maybe pile proves to be a solid mid rotation guy as well. It's not the sexiest pitching depth but I don't think the situation is completely bleak either. In the very least we shouldn't have to watch any journeymen shitballers get trotted out there anymore.

    Ducks and Blues game postponed after Jay Bouwmeester collapsed on the bench. EMT's appeared to be performing chest compressions. Apparently he was conscious and alert when taken to hospital

    That was it, amazing player. But then I was mad about how he left and stuck with the team. Kariya was just reaching his peak when he got taken out by Gary Suter, vicious crosscheck in the jaw well after he had scored. Really was right up there in the conversation for best player in the world in that late 90s period where there wasn't a clear #1, but he just wasn't the same after that incident. Still productive but way more of a perimeter player.

    As a Ducks fan I like the bar he just set, if someone pries Rakell out of Anaheim it should take a fair bit more than that.

    No but what I'm saying is that I don't see any contenders being interested. They could rent a solid 3rd line guy for very little, someone more suited to playoff hockey.

    I think his best fit is competing for a contract for next year on a non contender like Minnesota. If a contending team has a need for a top 9 forward, they'd be better off giving up a bit more for a rental who has proven to be more than a talented flake.

    If they change gears and decide to try and upgrade their pen, Rengifo would be a good piece to acquire in a Giles deal.

    I've been waiting to call up Shesterkin until the Rangers trade away Georgiev but it looks like the former is going to be the guy they run with either way.

    The NHL doesn't appear to differentiate between goalies and skaters when determining "rookie" status FWIW

    Half the teams making the playoffs is just absurd. If you haven't proven to be more than a middle of the road ballclub after 162 games, you don't deserve to be in the playoffs.

    The whole thing is stupid and seems like it's setting up to be one of corny reality tv shows full of forced suspense. It does nothing for the sport or to draw interest in the game, just manufactured drama/and storylines that aren't needed to make playoff baseball interesting. Rivalries are great when they happen organically, we don't need to be force fed these "your opponent chose to play against you, how does that make you feel?" dramatics twice a year. In before they choose Seacrest to host and go to commerical every time something is about to happen.

    I've seen quite a few pretty pissed off Angels fans, Joc and Stripling would have been nice additions. After the reports that their owner Moreno flipped out over the deal being put on hold, many of them seem to think he may have actually been the one who axed the trade all together.

    I didn't realize Maeda had such a weird contract. He can provide a lot of surplus value at 3M per year.
