  1. He does have a couple league average ish offensive seasons under his belt at least. Hopefully they can figure out some adjustment to make him a passable bench player again. I have a bad feeling he's in the mix to start in CF until Varsho is ready. If he's the best defender for the job, goes without saying that's going to be a huge consideration..
  2. Obvious implications involving the pool money aside, Straw should also be a decent bench OF?
  3. 34 days until Spring Training! In the spirit of off season signings, let's go with a guy that was one of the Jays biggest FA splashes of his time. #34 is AJ Burnett !
  4. Sign Sasaki, trade Bassitt and sign Flaherty for roughly the same amount. Sasaki, Flaherty, Gausman, Berrios, Francis
  5. I'm not seeing any private jets that appear to be on a typical Tokyo to Toronto flight path, everyone panic
  6. I had it broken down as Vlad playing 80ish games at 1B, 50+ as DH and maybe 20ish at 3B Alonso 80ish at 1B and 70ish at DH. Still leaves a quarter season worth of DH starts available for rest days or whatever. Maybe consider moving Gimenez to SS and DH Bo on days when Vlad plays 3B
  7. I don't really ever put much, if any stock in these kinds of rumours. But I give it a slight bit more weight coming from a guy like Hodge, who correct me if I'm wrong but really has never struck me as a rumor pusher. He was also once fired from HNIC for speaking his mind about their production on air. With some of these guys, you know they just throw s*** at the wall and hope something sticks. In this case, I can genuinely believe Hodge heard something that makes him believe this is happening. It's just a matter of whether he received genuine info or not.
  8. You may very well be right. As far as former Toronto reporters go though, Hodge does strike me as being reasonable and having integrity compared to some of them. But then again, older reporter who has been out of the game for nearly eight years. Have to question/wonder what his source could be
  9. To me it seems like he's insinuating that he knows something. I could be wrong but I don't think he's ever been one to get involved in the rumor mill.
  10. That is a middle aged man
  11. 35 days until Spring Training! Today's pick is the doubles hitting machine, 1B Lyle Overbay!
  12. 36 days until Spring Training! Lots of good options for this one, but I'm going with an all-star pitcher who wore #36 for his initial stint with the Jays - it's David 'Boomer' Wells!
  13. 37 days until Spring Training! #37 has been worn by a few beauties in team history, but one stands alone for both his longevity and greatness for the Jays. #37 is legendary pitcher Dave Stieb!!
  14. 38 days until Spring Training! #38 is another popular number worn by 25 players in team history. I'm going with a pitcher who had one of the best debut seasons of any Blue Jays player. Finishing sixth in AL Cy Young voting as a rookie in 1987, it's righty Mark Eichorn !
  15. 39 days until Spring Training! Another very popular number in team history. I'm going with the only Canadian on the Jays inaugural roster back in 1977. Also continues to wear #39 today as first base coach of the D'Backs. An original Blue Jay, it's 2B Dave McKay
  16. 40 days until Spring Training! #40 has been a popular number in Toronto, worn by twenty total players and a few quite notable. I'm going with a world series winner and the longest tenured #40, it's reliever Mike Timlin! @Spanky99I know you have a good one for this number today
  17. It would be downright bizarre to me if any team wasn't putting their best foot forward to sign Sasaki.
