  2. When you factor in blue collar based metrics it becomes pretty close.

The native of nearby Medford, N.Y., is set to make his fifth career appearance at the ballpark that is approximately a one-hour drive from where he grew up. Family and friends will once again be in attendance as he's matched up against veteran lefty CC Sabathia in the series finale. Stroman is coming off back-to-back quality starts vs. the Rays and Angels, which saw him allow four runs over 16 1/3 innings. He has surrendered two runs or fewer in all but one of his five starts this season, but he has just two wins to show for it due to a lack of run support. "Just kind of struggling right now with this squad to get wins," Stroman said after his last start. "But everyone is doing what they need to be doing between each start to make sure they're ready to go out there. It's just a matter of things turning around for us." Sabathia is coming off a very rough outing vs. the Orioles that saw him surrender seven runs on nine hits over 5 2/3 innings. He served up a 470-foot blast to Manny Machado but New York still found a way to rally with an epic 14-11 victory over its divisional rival. "I felt like I was just trying to do too much," Sabathia said. "That's normally not me. I'm pretty good at staying within myself and going out there and giving that best effort. For some reason I just wanted to make everything nasty and just got myself into trouble." Three things to know about this game • Stroman racked up a career-high five strikeouts with his four-seam fastball in his last start, against the Rays. He threw the pitch 42.9 percent of the time in two-strike counts, easily his highest single-game rate of the Statcast Era. • Jose Bautista has faced Sabathia more than anybody else in the Blue Jays' lineup, but he doesn't have much success against the former Cy Young Award winner. Bautista has just five hits in 40 at-bats. Kendrys Morales has fared much better with six hits in 20 at-bats, including a homer and four RBIs. • Since 1967, Sabathia is one of three pitchers to start at least one game for the Yankees in nine consecutive seasons. Ron Guidry (1977-88) and Andy Pettitte (1995-2003) are the others. GDT Record 1-0
  4. Tuning in now, don't want to miss a legendary moment.
  5. Drowning in s*** fury is one of my greatest fears
  6. It was breaking towards the plate, but clearly wasn't close. How do you give him that?
  7. Pearce is awake, has to feel great right now.
  8. Once saw a windmill pitcher have an 0-2 pitch stick to his hand and lob over the backstop, only to have the batter take a half hearted swing before jogging to first. Took the umps awhile to make the right call.
  9. Oh yeah I'm not arguing that Morales hasn't put the greatest AB's together. But on this particular pitch, I was sure the catcher was setting up for the breaking ball down, and with a runner happening to be on second, I wouldn't be shocked if Morales was tipped off and then crossed up. Could be wrong of course.
  10. Might have been a tad outside but close enough to be ripping on. Did Morales get crossed up after being tipped off that the catcher was set up low?
  11. Rangers just sitting back in the shell here in the 3rd. Pretty boring, don't blame them though.
  12. No doubt about it for me. An idea would have to be pretty terrible before I'd hesitate to choose it in favor of another Lawrence start. I'd much rather see Tepera piggybacked by Barnes or someone, than have Lawrence get the ball again
  13. No worries, just glad to have you back ya goon. Suspensions for everyone!
  14. haha beat me to it, thought it was my turn today!

Yeah that was awesome. Washington will have to dig deep and answer back quickly or they are toast.

  18. Yeah that was my take as well
  19. That was a weird one, looked very far foul off the bat but hooked back really close to the foul pole.
  20. Anyone watching Cubs vs Sox? Funny looking close play at first, almost looked like a photo finish at woodbine.
  21. 1-0 GDT record, my other one didn't count since it wasn't the official thread
