  1. Possibly when (if) Tulo is back from the DL. Would be suprised if it happened before then, but you never know!
  2. Despite being very early, their series vs the Mariners is a big one for the wildcard implications. Angels take game 1 behind the on fire Trout, Ohtani and Simmons. Skaggs and Ohtani are due to pitch the other 2 games.
  3. TBF it's unlikely he’ll be claimed so there’s a good chance he remains at AAA.
  4. Interesting that they went with Smith Jr.
  5. Come to England next please!
  6. 3 for 3, 2 homers, 2 walks, and his first stolen base for nearly a decade (last was Oct 2009). Offer him an extension?
  7. Haven't listened to it but Barry Davis does one! At the Letters is the only one I listen to.
  8. Yeah - and the Jays aren't going to be blatantly open about negotiations (i.e. don't sign and we make you wait a year). Kingery had already made the opening day roster before signing his extension, but no doubt that was part of the negotiations.
  9. Definitely not, that would be insane. Vlad can still bust (or eat his way out of the league).
  10. I'd completely forgotten that we also got Nori Aoki! FWIW the Astros traded Teoscar because he was blocked, not necessarily that they didn't rate him.
  11. If the Jays said sign an extension and we'll call you up now, wouldn't that cause issues with the Union?
  12. From the Toronto Star - link Players on the disabled list still earn MLB service time, moving them closer to free agency. Travis has been on the DL four times, for a total of 271 days, more than half of his major-league time; if he stayed on the MLB roster or DL, he would have been eligible for free agency at the end of the 2020 season. If the Jays keep him in the minors for at least 15 days, they will then have him under club control through the 2021 season. That, of course, means Travis will likely remain with the Bisons until at least May 15 when the Jays travel to play the Mets, perhaps even longer.
  13. I think Vlad has the self confidence to turn down any contract offer that potentially delays free agency, and back himself to force the Jays to call him up. If he gets a September call up this year and succeeds, and JD either leaves or becomes more of a DH due to injuries, then Vlad is going to be starting 3B in 2019 once a few weeks service time delays are done. That's probably better for his development then calling him up now - his bat seems ready but extra time in the field can only be a bonus.
  14. I just read an interesting angle on the Travis demotion - if he's in the minors for at least 15 days, then we'll have him under control for an extra year through the 2021 season. So 2/3 weeks to refind his batting form makes even more sense now.
  15. Plus Espinosa was only released last week.
  16. Gift is extremely lucky to get recalled - Donaldson isn’t quite ready and Travis was only just sent down. A few days either way and JD is ready or there’s no need to send down Travis.
  17. Because to most of the fanbase trading him to free up flexibility on the roster sounds better than releasing him. The optics are better.
  18. Yeah, he'd likely refuse AAA and then KC can pick him up at minimum. We'd have to pay the difference on his contract. Maybe we can trade him to them for a lottery ticket and eat all his money anyway to save face? Still not sure the front office (or Rogers) want to release a player with nearly 2 years left on his contract.
  19. I'm not sure that's possible - 45/9/7 today
