    Which I honestly don’t like. You’re now eliminating the chance of non contending clubs to get an asset for a veteran player that late into the season now. August 15th trade deadline makes more sense. Smoak for example is probably just going to get released and they will bring up Tellez to get his at-bats. Still can’t believe they couldn’t find a single taker for him. Either the Blue Jays didn’t want to eat his entire salary in a deal or they wanted him around as a veteran presence for a little longer.

    Yes next season expect more short term veteran free agent signings with the intention to be sold off. I would be shocked if the Blue Jays spent any significant money for multiple years. Perhaps with the amount of money off the books they will look to be creative by taking salary from teams in exchange for decent young prospects. I would not expect Giles or Galvis to be traded before the season. It would depend on the return though. If a team legitimately wants to start Galvis at SS everyday maybe. Might see some more David Phelps type contracts trying to squeeze out some control without risk. Blue Jays front office really likes team options as they should.

    Yea that’s your fear with trading with a team like Rays. They just have much smarter front office that’s seemingly ahead of the curve in a lot of areas despite limited resources. The good thing is getting anything useful for Sogard is a plus. Spring invite success stories are always fun.

    Happy for Sanchez. Really hope the Astros can turn around his career. Hes a good dude.

    Honestly Pannone looks like a guy that can have a successful career as a swingman. Doesn’t profile as a back of the bullpen reliever because he doesn’t have the power. Isn’t quite a starter but is a guy who could spot start and be good in multi inning stints. That breaking ball will play in a variety roles if he commands his fastball for sure.

    Nobody should be worried about wins and losses. Let Vladdy make mistakes. He needs to be given every chance to play a position. And he will be. Hes not going to get better fielding by DHing. Until the team is ready to compete his on field mistakes don’t matter. You just hope he can improve.

    I really feel Lourdes would be our best CF if given the opurtunity. Obviously his arm in a corner is a massive plus. But he looks fantastic with room to roam.

    Imagine finally getting a chance to play extended time at this level and getting hurt on a routine fly ball. Jesus Christ that’s rough. Real talk though I hope he doesn’t have a concussion or something I would feel bad for laughing.

    I wish they optioned Borucki and had him pitch in AAA to see if he was actually healthy. Now more service time is getting wasted. Felt like they rushed him back to begin with. Didn’t really get much of a chance to build up on that rehab stint.

    Smoak is playing for a job somewhere next season. I don’t think he would be cool with that. Still shocked he wasn’t moved out. Expiring deal and Tellez sitting in AAA. Even for just a PTBNL that was s*** shocked hes still here. Galvis made some sense because of the option but Smoak unless they just wanted him the clubhouse with the young players I don’t get it.

    If Fisher is anything more than AAAA guy or decent 4th OF option I would be pleasantly surprised. Not expecting much of anything. Its hard to see him playing everyday because whose at-bats is he taking. Teo looks like he was starting to turn it around and we unfortunately have to play Grichuk because he got paid. For now he can get some at-bats with LGJ and Grichuk potentially out with minor injuries.
