  1. I don’t know man you would have to ask them that. They talked about it a bit on the draft show. Red Sox front office is a bit in shambles. They faced punishment this year for the scandal went on which includes loss of their second round pick this year. Perhaps they just want to get things organized and regroup for next year. With virtually no high school season and most college seasons being so short not a ton of information out there. Perhaps with all things considered they didn’t feel comfortable making the pick. Deep draft or not they still have the #18 next year if they don’t sign him. And will have a larger bonus pool as a result. I am sure they aren’t the only team that has considered this as well. But as you said this is a really strong and deep draft so teams are taking their picks and feeling good about them despite the lack of information.
  2. No quarantine going on where this kid is from lol.
  3. Speculation is they took him to punt the pick so they would get the first round pick back next. Hes not an underslot sign because his commitment to college was strong. Plus the Red Sox don’t have a second round pick. Honestly not a bad strategy.
  4. Is the taxi squad idea still floating out there? No minor league season but I think if you put together top prospects team together to play against each other ahead of the big league teams would be pretty cool.
  5. Relax dude Jesus lol.. act like you have seen a female before yikes.
  6. i didn’t think we would get in position to draft both Veen and Martin. Especially Martin wow. Everyone has to be f***ing pumped right now. Loving his potential position versatility as well.
  7. One of the things brought up in the NBA and NHL discussions is how they want to get the playoffs in before early Fall at the latest. There is a significant chance we get a big second wave of the Virus that could cause things to shutdown. Considering a lot of buisnesses are preparing for that reality we might not have to full on shut down again. Right now is the window to get things done. Nobody should expect the NBA and NHL to start up again in December on schedule. NBA has discussed a Christmas day start time. Its likely the start of their next season gets delayed as well. I don’t think will see Baseball played in the Winter. You have to eventually get things back to normal and that would be almost impossible in that scenario. The risks of injuries alone makes it unlikely.
  8. Double headers multiple times a week I suppose. I don’t know how they could possibly balance that while keeping the players seemingly in a bubble. Obviously they would realign divisions by spring training location but its not like those teams can just play each other constantly. That wouldn’t hold any integrity in terms of competition. And its not like they can just host all teams at a couple different complexes. Just to many games and teams need to play. We haven’t even heard a realistic concrete plan yet. Right now the 2 sides can’t even agree on money lol. Which isn’t an issue in the NBA or NHL because they already got paid. The only way a season happens is if the Owners give into the players. That seems hopeless.
  9. I just don’t know how these 2 sides can bridge the gap at this point. Especially with the players already pissed off. The owners would have to give in to the players and that looks super unlikely. Time to cut their losses and come back next year as much as that sucks. I just don’t see how they can do any kind of meaningful season between July-September. Playing into October would be a risk because you’re entering flu season and most likely a second wave of Corona Virus. Even if they agreed to something this weekend. They would still have to get everyone to location. Quarantine. Do a spring training. And we are looking at what mid July start with that timeline? And this doesn’t even look close. I assume they would be aiming for a July 4th start to bring back Baseball on a holiday that’s meaningful for Baseball. But man I’m not holding my breath. Yikes.
  10. I can’t believe they are still trying these stupid gimmicky ideas. Most of things are stupid and far fetched. Atleast the NBA plans sound realistic. I just don’t understand how this even takes off. Not a chance if a prospect plays in MLB Game that the clock doesn’t start. The agents will fight that to the end.
  11. Do we really expect that young millionaires will be able to shuttle back and fourth between a ballpark and hotel for several months without making mistakes. Without having needs. Are some of these players going to be allowed to have their entire family living with them or will they not be able to see family or friends for several months. All it takes is one player or person involved in this to introduce someone from the outside this bubble to take this whole thing down. It seems highly unlikely this will get approved by health officials.
  12. Theoretically but if Kevin Gausman pitches at all this season its likely in an Arizona spring training ballpark that tend to be very unforgiving. It certainly won’t be in the Bay Area who laid down some of the most strict laws during this quarantine.
  13. Why would anyone want this. I don’t want Baseball or Sports back until it’s ready to be played with fans and in Home ballparks with no health and safety concerns. However long that takes. Do people really want to see the NBA Championship trophy presented in an empty arena in Las Vegas. How anticlimactic and weird it would see players holding up trophies infront of nobody. They also can’t be assured any of this would be sustainable. It would just take one player or person to be involved in this process to get the virus to shut everything down again. Most of these suggestions are shortsighted. They need to be realistic and logical. This is obviously all money driven and not remotely about the integrity of the game.
  14. Normally I’m on the players side in issues like this... but this is ********. You’re arguing for something that you didn’t earn. Look around the whole world is on pause. Businesses not making any money and people basically out of work. To sit here and selfishly argue service time is baffling to me and I hope MLB doesn’t forfeit to these demands. If anything all salaries should be on freeze until a Baseball season is resumed. You should get service time when you play Baseball games. Not be catered to when the whole world is in flux. Take a step back and take a look at the bigger picture. Do you think I’m getting a Christmas bonus this year? No. Do I expect one god no I will be happy if I maintain my job through this Pandemic. MLBPA can suck a fat cock.
  15. The Junior College route I completely agree with but the High School guys that want to sign or expect to demand high bonuses aren’t committing to 3 years of College. Some will but I think you might see a Junior College heavy draft for the first time ever. But its very possible some could elect to be held back. Considering schools have been out well before graduation a kid on the cusp of graduating could hold off. Take nothing courses, chill, and just play Baseball dominating the competition. I was mostly joking about the 20 year olds but we are definitely going to see some interesting decisions.
  16. Its going to be hilarious when there is 20 year olds being drafted out of High School in 2021 if they cancel the draft. And I thought the 19 year old High Schoolers was bad lolz
  17. That’s a recommendation not the current law put in place. Different States have different rules in place as well.
  18. The thing is that doesn’t stop them from playing games without fans. And Baseball will be forced to make a decision in late June/July whether or not if they go ahead with a season without fans or just cancel the season all together. With weather they don’t have the luxury of time like the indoor sports do. Unless they come up with a plan where they only play games in Domed stadiums and try to divide the teams evenly in different locations with a dome. They would probably have to design a special schedule around that concept as well. For example the AL East plays a tournament style schedule in either Rogers Centre or Tropicana Field. That would honestly suck but a scenario they are forced to explore if they want to have any kind of Baseball. Other things you need to worry about is pitchers health. They need to be properly built up over the course of atleast a few weeks. If team workouts are banned for the next 2 months potentially as they have been in the NBA. Individual workouts only, Does Baseball have to do another Spring Training or Exhibition Season to properly build up pitchers or should they all be throwing simulated games during the next couple months every 5 days in preparation for a season that may or may not happen.
  19. About damn time you put some respect on Todd’s name.
  20. He looks just as fat as last year which is disappointing but as long as he plays well I guess I don’t care that much. Him continuing to play overweight is just going to move him off Third faster. Not sure if he cares about that though. I assume Travis Shaw is going to be playing 3B a couple times a week anyway.
  21. I think to many teams make the playoffs in hockey and basketball. I think right now in Baseball its the right amount. Not really a huge fan of these changes. Would it create a buzz and have people taking about sure. But by year 3 everyone won’t care. If this is their way of trying to get people with short attention spans to like Baseball I’m not very optimistic about the future.
  22. Joc Pederson trade to the Angels fell through. Considering the awkwardness of his arbitration hearing (that he lost), and them trying to trade him. That relationship has got to be awkward as hell. And now the Dodgers have to move him. Atkins please be all over that. Joc would be perfect for this lineup.
  23. This thread needs to be printed out and burned with fire and ashes poured in acid and also set that on fire.
