Atkins no? Shapiro yes? He's the president of the team. His role is much more than the on field product. He deserves another GM or 2.

His stuff has been in a steady decline for like 3 years. Command was a major factor in his rebound last Season. But now it seems like he's basically willing the Baseball through the strikezone to get outs. Like there isn't huge dips in velo but quality of the pitches overall. And it's been extremely noticeable.

Berrios just doesn’t have the stuff to get people out anymore.

I don't think the Jays need to actively try to tank. This team sucks all on its own and once you start selling off some stuff it will be even easier to suck.

We will never know the full details of contract negotiations. But there has been multiple reports to come out in the last couple years including recently that both sides haven't even been close in numbers. If they weren't in the 200 million dollar extension range for Bo in the off-season they certainly won't be now. And Bo is not going to sign a lesser number now because he's had a bad first half of the Season. Jays can't operate like the Dodgers and Yankees. Even if they have the money they don't have the pull or the allure. It has burned the Jays several times in this regime alone not trading players at max value. Josh Donaldson being the most notable one. I posted in the off-season if they weren't going to extend Bo to the kind of money he was likely to command they should trade him now. Now he's having a down season and the Jays are s***. They have zero leverage. To your last point I don't see any evidence to suggest they were thinking they were contending in 2024. I feel they were stuck with the roster they had because it was massively overpaid and they couldn't do much more than hope they would sneak into a wildcard spot.

Trading Bo now seems dumb. But they are going to have to either now or in the off-season. His Season being so s*** nuked his value. They could have got a kings randsom in the off-season which they should have if they didn’t even approach his extension asking price in negotiations. Frustrating how often the Jays fumble players value before letting them go. Would be nice it they actually cashed out on some of these guys. Especially when they didn’t do anything to improve the roster in the off-season. I didn’t think they would be this bad but a .500 or slightly above was my highest expectations,

Fun to win but bittersweet because this season has been terrible. And I really don't blame you for not wanting to continue. Atleast this Season. I watched maybe 2 games all of June. And I use to never miss a game.
