  1. A good comp for his value right now is probably Adam Lind last off-season.
  2. I think this as well. He stood out on a team full of notable players in the playoffs. I think he would actually be valued more than KK despite KK being far superior on the defensive end, just because of visibility and notoriety.
  3. Yuk. I'd rather go for Kazmir and Leake to avoid shelling a pick.
  4. It could very well be. Pillar was on the highlight reel almost nightly with his defense, and his key hits in the playoffs got plenty of visibility. Add those to the WAR he put up and his value is probably well regarded in the league.
  5. He said that he "was informed that the discussion began by considering to slash payroll by 30% but it could, and should, have changed since then".
  6. My only guess is some arbitrary determinant based on maturity and critical thinking development at that age?
  7. Not sure how I feel about that. If he's been here awhile, he was probably responsible for the scouting on Osuna, Castro, Guerrero, etc. I think scouting is most valuable in drafting and international signing, after those, analytics is the most suitable choice.
  8. That's true, maybe he would demand a better package if he repeated another 4 WAR season, but it's more likely he regresses due to his terrible offensive approach, so it would be smart to sell high this off-season.
  9. That's fair, but Shapiro may be inclined to sell high on Pillar if the right deal presents itself.
  10. I think sportsnet just reported that the Twins placed the winning bid for Park at $12.85M. I caught it with the corner or my eye, so I didn't read all of it. Edit: Ok I can confirm that's exactly what they reported now.
  11. That's fair. Personally, I only see Sanchez, Pillar, Revere, Hutch, and Cola being offered in any trade proposals for anyone, given Shapiro's MO.
  12. Yep, dynamic pricing would do the trick.
  13. This and I think it would be pretty appealing to him as well, since his offensive WAR would likely balloon playing in the RC surrounded by this offense.
  14. Probably not, but I'm discussing what I believe could be fair. Some who have spoke to him, believe Tulo would wave it just to get out of Canada (Brunt), personally, I have no opinion on it, but that opinion does exist.
  15. Tulo could likely play an elite 3rd, I think that's a non-issue.
  16. Personally, I think Tulo (plus salary relief), Pillar, and Greene gets it done.
  17. Here's a question, could we nab Carrasco without giving up either Stroman or Osuna and, if so, what would it take?
  18. Kazmir and Leake are good for me. Both will be decent 2/3 options and we keep our draft picks.
  19. That's fine but I think it's about time Pompey gets a full year in the pros under his belt. We could keep Saunders as the 4th outfielder/depth.
  20. Pompey over both imo, as he projects to have a higher OBP and better D, while having comparable speed to Revere.
  21. Bobcat made an interesting analogy yesterday when he said, "Price had a much bigger impact than just his on-field performance, there was a clear psychological aspect that his presence had on his team-mates. As they say, 'the high tide raises all ships'". I believe that, and it would be foolish to deduce Price's contributions to "only" stats. These are human beings after all.
  22. If he can produce above league average for a 1st baseman, I would sign him for that very reason. Toronto has a huge Asian population and, like in Seattle with Ichiro, this could help sell tickets for several years.
  23. Any reports on if the Jays even made a bid?
  24. We have a great shot at landing anyone, it's about financial feasibility and if we want to take on that type of risk.
  25. We need 2 starters, but that doesn't mean 1 won't be a depth piece, or maybe Dikey is getting traded? Osuna shouldn't be grouped in as a reliever, at least until you know what you have with him as a starter. It wouldn't fit Shapiro's MO to trade him yet. Sanchez could though.
