  1. don't you think the 'stros have a better shot?
  2. cooper strike zone is much more reasonable than marquez ... still can't get over how he was calling it sunday...
  3. whoever you think can take down the royals
  4. marquez who is in our series would not have called those high strikes... idiot!
  5. krukie: living and dying by every pitch; that's what the post-season is all about isn't this what we've been living the last month?
  6. As far as I am concerned, I am not sure which Alex we are going to get this off-season. There's the good-Alex we saw at the trade deadline. It's like the all-in moves Beane made last year except not only did the team not implode but they went the other way. Incredible. Hopefully our post-season results will also be different than Beane's. Then there is the bad-Alex. He basically did nothing about the #1, on-the-record, off-season objective - Pitching. Still remember the press conference right after last season, how he was "energized" and "excited" going into the off-season. And then sitting thru it, the anguish for the first half of the season with BP blowing games, SP seemingly going less than 6 every night... So going into this off-season, the biggest question mark in my mind is pitching. And this year, it's both SP and bullpen. Price, Papa B, Estrada and maybe throw Dickey and Hutch in there - that's basically our rotation. With the BP, there's Lowe, Hawkins, what to do with Sanchez, Osuna, etc. I for one am not taking for granted that we are going to get the good-Alex this off-season. Everything else like SS/2B or outfield are depth "problems" - something we haven't had to deal with in a long time and are a good problem to have
  7. Nah,the Taylor Swift curse cancels out this one so we are good
  8. Texas-Tor Crew - Yeah that a**hole Marquez we just saw Dale Scott (CC) Dan Bellino Vic Caparazza James Hoye Marvin Hudson Alfonso Marquez
  9. Hopefully that's exactly what's going to happen with national televised games. Every play is going to be talked about, reviewed, magnified etc. This very fact may also help tone down some of the antics (i.e. the circus that is known as the Royals). You would think that everyone's goal is to play gritty, passionate ball and leave the antics behind
  10. Weren't these the same guys who picked Angels as the favorites last year when the playoffs started?
  11. I am not sure whether you are saying this tongue-in-cheek but now that you mention it, I think there's something to it. Prior to the trade deadline, there were a lot of reports out here that the Dodgers or Angels were targeting him. I read/heard more than once that he wasn't going to the Jays because he is a California/surfer boy and would never want to live in Canada. Soon after that, there was the whole flak with Hamels saying the club hasn't approached him about playing in TO and that he would be "open". After the deadline, they interviewed some GMs and all of them basically said "we knew he wasn't going to TO"
  12. I agree. I don't even know why people talk about it. Just look at the relievers coming in after Dickey this season. If this thing was ever true, we should see it there. We are now talking about the same game, not even the same series. Maybe it'll take a couple of pitches for the batters to adjust but within an AB?? I for one haven't seen it...
  13. Definitely on both sides of the coast, it's better and gets worst as you move away from the coasts. And as I said, with the economy the way it is, I think a lot of Americans are sobering up. But even here in SoCal, you see it. I don't know if you've been to Angels stadium when the Jays are in town. You start being more vocal with the let's go blue jays chant and you start hearing it. And this is supposed to within the family friendly confines of Big A not Chavez Ravine - there I'd guess they'll start pulling out their knives... Maybe it's just guys at my gym but I take so much flak for cheering the Jays or wanting to watch hockey on one of the TVs instead of the Lakers... the Lakers!! are you kidding me?? To them, a horrific Lakers game is still better than a hockey game. Granted a lot of that is good-natured but I still hear it...
  14. Maybe that's an exaggeration but it's not far from it and this is from a Canadian having lived in the US for close to 20 years (I actually have both passports). I can tell you that in grained into most Americans is a sense of superiority. When they are talking about "God Bless America", what they are really saying is "God only blesses America". They believe America is God's gift to the world. For a long time, they have been the center of the universe, economically speaking, military power, etc. Over the last decade or so, this is no longer true and a lot of Americans have a hard time dealing with it. As for the team made up of mostly US or Venezuelans or as Fallon ignorantly stated Dominicans, I don't really care. To borrow a phrase from our cross-town brethren, it's about the logo on the front, not the name on the back
  15. You know what we do - we pack the friggin RC and bring down the house because everyone is screaming their damn heads off before the 1st inning all the way to the 9th when we take them down; we show these damn stupid, arrogant, know-it-all, gun-totting yanks that we don't give a f*** what they think and we the city and the country is behind this team. I hear it all the time here in Cali - Shouldn't the team be called Toronto Snow Birds, no no no, it should be Toronto Penguins ... Yeah buds, let me take you up there and I'll treat you to some yellow snow... oh what's that... it's good believe me just give it a try ... ignorant bastards... My Canadian and Jays flag are up and flying in my house 3000 mi away. While I can't cheer in person, I'll be cheering nonetheless The Rangers are going down!!
  16. well hutch is doing is best to make us tune into another game i guess...
  17. the Rays color guy said the same thing about a Papa B pitch. Pitch Trax said inside but the guy basically said it was a lot closer and should have been a strike
  18. pillar shouldn't swing at that... they need to let the ump work for them... they are taking the ump out of the game which is not good after what he did to Papa B
  19. Wow $1200! Renaissance now knows what Ritz Carlton is like every single day...
  20. nice hustle pillar ... especially in a 9-0 game!!
  21. not much while he was pitching but did say in the inning that Moore was pitching that Buehrle is getting squeezed too. he also talked about how the defense was letting him down as well the color guy is funny though with his comments about the ump - "if i put the ball in the zone, call it" "matt moore should feel about his start so far; he is pitching to half a strike zone"
  22. the rays broadcast guys are all over the ump "i'm sorry that's a strike... well that's not my zone... u don't have a zone... it's a strike..."
  23. Gibby was going to start Hutch if Papa B couldn't pitch. What does that tell you about what Gibby thinks?
