  1. Washington is not expected to be a very good team but one can never downplay a sweep, especially since I think most of us were concerned about the pitching matchup going into today's game. Vladdy is still killing too many worms, and certainly there are concerns in a couple of areas pitching wise. All in all though a solid start to the season considering the lack of power. Starts to get real in the next couple of weeks. We'll find out a few things about this team.
  2. Well this is certainly a less than ideal matchup.
  3. Hasn't it been Berrios 3 of the last 4 seasons? I'm sensing a trend.
  4. All in all, I'll take an effort like that 100 out of 100 times from the guy who's supposed to be a 5th starter. Part of me keeps waiting for the other shoe to drop but, hasn't happened yet. Granted the Nationals are merely an appetizer.
  5. I was crazy busy, unfortunately I missed the whole game. Hard to tell from the box score how Bowden looked. Seemed like he was about a B minus effort? I'm not going to lose my s*** over Gimenez at this point. But if he could find enough of a stroke to be a poor man's Roberto Alomar, I wouldn't complain.
  6. A very Bassitt start. A bit messy at times, but gives us 6 innings with a chance to win.
  7. Never really know which Bassitt will show up. Just keep us in the game for five innings is all I ask. I have no idea what to make of Sugano, but he'll probably find a way to handle us.
  8. It really is amazing that we have people at the top that are paid millions of dollars to miss the obvious.
  9. Still couldn't break our MLB record for home runs in a game. A bunch of overrated bums.
  10. Well let's be honest, coming into the season I think everybody was aware that the bullpen, particularly the middle relief, was highly suspect. We also all are aware that Max Scherzer is old. So nothing that happened today would be in the category of shocking. Just got to hope this isn't a harbinger of things to come and both those parts of our team will surprise going forward.
  11. Nice to get the first one out of the way.
  12. Don't need any unnecessary drama at the end of this game.
  13. There really is no ideal. Either they go suddenly and unexpectedly or they go old and sick. Both suck for different reasons. You just hope they live a good life while they were here and that's it.
  14. That's what got my dad as well. Absolutely terrible. I took small comfort in the fact that he himself did not realize what was happening, it's everybody around them that pays the price mostly. Best of luck.
  15. Damn that's a tough one. That's a really tough pill to swallow. I don't know if I could have accepted that one as readily as you have. There will probably be some ups and downs still to come emotionally. Good friends and family goes a long ways.
  16. Sorry to hear that. Lost mine the Easter before covid. In fairness, there wasn't much of him left to take at that point, so it was probably a mercy. Good weather and baseball ahead. Onwards and upwards!
  17. I paid no attention to spring training, just looked for injury updates is all. I don't ever trust spring training but it's fine, it's not like we have a lot of options that are better from the right side.
  18. Remind me why Berrios was the opening day starter?
  19. Yeah I get it, at least it felt earned.
  20. I think we did get a couple of hits with runners in scoring position. They just didn't come around.
