    The bullpen clicking is as much a concern as anything given how much variance is in their games. This is where luck will play a big factor, we just have to hope we get a couple of guys get hot at the right time.

    He has the worst home run rate on the team though, that doesn't concern you? And you have him ahead of Gausman?

    So as it stands right now, Bieber is your number one and you hope nothing happens to change that. Gausman is two. He's still a bit up and down but he's the best of the remaining options. I still don't know who three is. Scherzer is susceptible to bombs which is exactly what you don't want in the postseason. Maybe the cooler air will help a bit but it's a serious concern. Bassitt and Berrios are probably the most susceptible to absolute stinkers. Between the two I trust Bassitt more. Lauer deserves it the most based on the results but how real do we think he is and do we believe he can hold up to the pressures of the postseason? It might depend on the lineup we're facing but I have Lauer as my three right now if current trends continue.

    That's Max's Achilles heel. Those freaking home runs. He's lucky not to have given up at least four of them tonight.

    That's one element that we were missing by not having Gimenez in the lineup for a chunk of the season. He's our best base stealer and we don't really have much of that element

    Discussing the makeup of this team, the strengths, the weaknesses, what our options are, how we compare to the competition, that's all part of fandom. That's what a message board is for. And yes, some of it might be negative because there are concerns when it comes to competing in the postseason. No team is perfect. Remember in 2022, when we complained of lack of offense and stupid baserunning, (especially by Vladdy) all season long? Remember what happened against Minny? No offense and stupid baserunning cost us the season. Sometimes you can see the areas that may kill you long before the postseason comes. Why can't you understand that we can do these things while still enjoying the success of this team to this point. Not everybody has to be a fan the way you choose to be a fan. If we win the world series, I promise there will be nothing but celebration on this board, okay?

    What are his options? Varland was the right choice, just not pitching that well. Pitch selection could be an issue too.

    Easy peasy. Bo saved us. Little has suddenly stopped spiking pitches. Perhaps there is a God.

    The one thing you don't have to worry about with Little is the home run.

    We're surviving. But they got guys at the top of their order and the bottom of their order that we're going to struggle with if it's only one run going forward.

    This is the problem, they were always going to tie the game with the top of their order. So taking that sac fly, at best, pushes this another inning.

    I don't know. Would you rather he took that for ball four and had Vladdy with the bases loaded or he hits the sac fly?

    The bullpen you love is blowing it.

    The bullpen is a giant concern and weakness for this team. The deadline didn't really change that. We'll need a couple of guys in there to just suddenly get hot in time for the playoffs unless Yesavage comes out of the blue.
