  1. I got it bad like that once in high school playing soccer. Coach said to reach down my shorts and jiggle them. Didn't help. I think he was just messing with me.
  2. Bingo! This guy is a douche. It was always kind of obvious that he was, but he's sealed it now.
  3. In general, he seems like a bit of a diva though. I wonder what happens when this guy gets his big money contract. Will he stay motivated enough to honour that contract to the best of his ability? If it's my money, I wouldn't take that risk with him.
  4. While I do understand that, from an ownership standpoint, I wouldn't feel comfortable signing a guy like this long term to big money. Those contracts for pitchers are risky as they are, but guys like this, I'd stay away from. There's just something missing with him, despite the obvious talent.
  5. Isn't he still shilling for Qalcomm on nationally syndicated radio shows?
  6. I just don't know how we don't hang more crooked numbers on Ubaldo. Can't win them all; O's can hit, nonetheless Hutch's inconsistency is a concern. He just implodes at times. I want to believe in him, but every time I start to, he goes and does something like this.
  7. I don't see why people are so bothered by the notion that Bautista might have a bit of jealousy towards JD. It doesn't mean he roots against JD, nor does it mean he's not thrilled to have him here, but it is possible to feel all of those things at the same time. JB is very proud, he has seniority and he was widely considered the leader of the team and now JD comes in and the virtues previously extolled on JB are now being extolled on JD, all the while JB is having yet another solid season in his own right (and in his mind he thinks he also gets it done on both sides of the ball, even if we don't agree). There's nothing wrong with a bit of professional jealousy; just human nature. Only Jose knows for sure, but I agree it would be naive to think he doesn't feel a bit overlooked.
  8. It's not 2005 anymore. I think it's looking more and more likely that he gets left out of the rotation if Stroman returns.
  9. I do think people are getting way ahead of themselves, but if Stroman is healthy and effective, I'd put Estrada ahead of both Buehrle and Dickey. Where I put Hutch still depends on what he does down the stretch, but I can definitely see a situation that has Buehrle and Dickey not make the playoff rotation. It would be a good problem to have.
  10. I'm not sure how much a president actually matters. Much like managers, I suspect it's much less than people think, but we'll see I guess. Not happy or bothered by it. At least it's somebody with experience.
  11. Getting that trade value up by the game. He has made the loss of Travis much more palatable than I thought possible. He looks like a different hitter completely. He's got swagger at the plate now. Having said all that, I'm still very cautious about whether this is just a good run or a real turning point. The fact that his approach and patience appears different and he's not just having a bunch of hit balls find holes gives me hope that it may be somewhat sustainable.
  12. I don't know what to make of it, it really is strange. Obviously, the Yankees and Red Sox are paranoid about the Jays doing something. The fact that they use multiple signs with nobody on base speaks to this fact. They both have had players play for them that have played for the Jays and the Sox have the Jays former manager. So if nothing was going on, they would know nothing was going on, and there would be no reason to continue being paranoid. Or perhaps something is going on, and they do know about it, but if it's something inappropriate, why not involve major league baseball and make a big stink about it? Do the Yankees and Red Sox do this against the Jays in their own ballparks? Do they do it with other teams, or just Toronto? I've made a mental note to watch for these things, but I always forget.

  14. Have they changed ticket prices in the last couple of weeks? Mine were the same as they have been all season. I actually think baseball tickets are the best bang for your buck among Toronto sports.
  15. Doctors can only do so much, everybody is different in how their body reacts. You have to trust the athlete to be honest about how they are feeling. Therein lies the problem: athletes will often lie, sometimes even to themselves, to get back early. I really, really want Stroman back, but if the Jays decide to be extra cautious, even during a pennant race, I will at least understand their position. Just as concerning for me is Stroman trying to protect the knee and compensating by putting more strain on the arm or shoulder as a result. Although that would be a risk regardless of whether he comes back this year or next.
  16. Yeah, took me a while too, only joined this board last week. The old board is a disaster. I tried to give it as much time as I possibly could, I wasn't even bothering to post there much myself, there was really no benefit to doing so anymore.
  17. So basically, you have a sacrificial lamb on the DL and use them as a placeholder for Stroman?
  18. Since he's on the DL as of August 31st, I believe he can be part of the postseason roster. I think only players acquired from other teams after August 31st are ineligible for the postseason roster. I'm cautiously optimistic with Stroman. If he does come back, I will expect nothing and hope to be pleasantly surprised.
  19. Ault, yeah I definitely remember you, why not stick with your old handle?
  20. Ah, have fun then, and represent. Yes, I was on the old board.
  21. The LA series? I hope we beat them for our own divisional aspirations, as for the wild card race, let the Yankees worry about that.
  22. Yeah, did the math wrong on that one. Then the only thing that makes sense is Dickey on short rest, but, even though he's a knuckleballer, he's 40, he throws a hard knuckler and we've already asked him to do this once. I don't want to start abusing the guy in August. Maybe we start Hutch and pray he survives 3-4 innings and go to the pen. Given the off days and the fact the pen hasn't been overworked of late, it's doable.
  23. That's my exact concern. He's not a finesse guy who can survive with a few less MPH. He does hit the armside bottom corner pretty consistently, so his command could help overcome some of the velocity loss, but he does rely on power. Even then, it's not like he sits in the upper 90's, he sits in the mid-90's, so even a couple of MPH loss on the fastball, and he's down to low 90's. I'd be very concerned about that.
  24. A's will have Sonny Gray going in the Thursday game, don't want to give that one away either. It's a tough situation. I'd go MB, Hutch, Estrada vs Oakland, Price, Dickey, MB vs NYY. MB's career numbers aren't great against NY, but I'd still trust him over Hutch right now, and it still gives you a chance in the Thursday game with Estrada vs Gray.
