  1. I think a lack of quality depth is important because it further exposes the bullpen. Also from what I understand there are fewer off days in this year's postseason which puts further stress on depth, which is bad for us. There are a couple of unknowns to consider, what is Tyler Glasnow going to be? How does Nate Pearson fit in? It remains to be seen but I do think if you have to make an objective argument for the American League teams we're the most vulnerable with our pitching.
  2. When you factor in the injury returns and acquisitions I think my point is well made. We're top heavy with Manoah and Gausman. We have a number three pitcher who they probably won't let pitch more than four to five innings and a number four pitcher who is Jekyll and Hyde with a mediocre bullpen that doesn't have a lot of swing and miss stuff. And by the way, I'm not counting Baltimore.
  3. I think it's a bit much to jump the gun on the Merrifield love. Espinal had himself been hitting better before the injury and he has very good at bats, is reliable to hit and run with, is obviously an excellent defender. I don't dislike Whit, and I knew he had more in him than what he had shown, I think there was an adjustment period for him. He can still be valuable, but I'm not willing to jump head first on him just yet. By the way, is there anybody on this team that can bunt? Can Whit? Like, I don't expect to do it often, but there will be one or two times that it could be the difference between winning and losing in a tight playoff game and even our s*** hitters apparently can't do it to save their lives.
  4. No American League playoff team has a worse pitching situation than we do. Our offense has to be red hot and we need Manoah and Gausman to have pretty much no slip-ups and our pen to manage to go on a hot streak at the right time.
  5. Tampa is a terrible matchup is a hot take? I'm thrilled we managed to go 5-4. But they are still our worst matchup in the first round if it comes to it. I'd much rather take my chances with Seattle or Cleveland.
  6. Shocking loss. Really wish we had just a bit more breathing room on them. As it stands, I can't imagine they will continue to s*** all over themselves against these garbage teams, especially at home. Our schedule and the tiebreaker makes it tough to hold on.
  7. I'll be happy to hear your rebuttal. They are clearly a terrible matchup for us. What part of this are you not watching?
  8. The Rays are the worst possible matchup for us in the American League. We were lucky to win three of five in Toronto, and probably only because we were lucky to have Manoah pitch the second game of the DL and not the first. But it'll be a chore to win one at the trop.
  9. Well there's nothing we can do about this team that we have. We have two mostly very good starters, a third pretty good starter but not a big stuff guy, a guy with better raw stuff but gets hit hard too often and a bullpen with not enough swing and miss stuff. Is it good enough to win a championship? If everything goes right and everybody gets hot at the right time, perhaps. Talent-wise it shouldn't be on pitching alone. The lack of big bullpen arms was predictable and the lack of rotation depth was also predictable so I can and will blame management for that. Management should have one more off season to get this right.
  10. Our lack of swing and miss stuff in the bullpen and poor fundamentals in key situations will kill us in the end. This team will make the playoffs but we're not deep enough or smart enough to go very far.
  11. What was that? Also, I remember a long time ago we had this guy in the bullpen named Bass, those were the days.
  12. I kept telling you guys Guerrero's close
  13. Tapia making solid contact. Lots of solid contact in this game in general
  14. It's not just ground balls with Vladdy, like he hits the very top of the f***ing ball. Terrible contact way too often.
  15. Lucky Springer's a stud. f***ing Schneider.
  16. What the f*** has Pop done to engender trust in a key moment? He's crap
  17. Smart play would be to bounce it but throwing an alley-oop is fine too?
  18. Not sure what the pen situation looks like but if you can bridge it from the 5th, I would not give Berrios another inning today. Battling everything.
  19. Gonna be a struggle to get through 5 today with all these lefties. He doesn't have much to put them away with. Coming off a bullpen game. Might be a butt clencher for the next couple of innings until we can start to bridge to the end.
  20. What bugs me about the red uni's is that you could still keep the over-the-top Canada theme with the logo retaining its regular colours. At least it wouldn't be quite as gaudy. They are BLUE jays after all.
  21. So it looks like it IS an advantage having 10 games against the Orioles in September...just like we always knew it would be 🙂
