  1. The NFL and NBA suspend players all the time for legal but immoral behaviour off the field. The MLB suspended John Rocker for a month for making offensive comments about gays and minorities, which was not only completely legal, but protected under the First Amendment. Like any business, the MLB is protecting its brand. If you want to be employed and paid by the MLB, you have to behave in whatever manner they deem appropriate.
  2. I apologise, English isn't my first language.
  3. JP Ricciardi's "analytics" drafting philosophy did irreparable damage to the farm during his tenure. In the early 2000s, the SABR community didn't recognize the importance of the hit tool and decided that high school pitchers had no value (Billy Beane famously threw a chair at his development team for drafting Jeremy Bonderman and traded him immediately). Before and after Ricciardi Toronto had one of the most respected development systems in baseball. 1990 John Olerud, 1b 1991 Mark Whiten, of 1992 Derek Bell, of 1993 Carlos Delgado, c 1994 Alex Gonzalez, ss 1995 Shawn Green, of 1996 Shannon Stewart, of 1997 Roy Halladay, rhp 1998 Roy Halladay, rhp 1999 Roy Halladay, rhp 2000 Vernon Wells, of
  4. Buerhle pretty consistently outperforms his peripherals. $/WAR probably underrates his value.
  5. Thread of the year candidate lol
  6. Neither Hoffman or Norris should be moved unless it's for a true ace or a impact position player. Even a Chapman-level closer isn't worth it. If you have to choose one, you stick with the one closer to the majors. Given that Hoffman already has 1 TJS under his belt and Norris 0, it's a no brainer.
  7. Instead of voting for the right players, we should just code up a bot that votes for all of our scrubs like the Royals did. Goins, Saunders, Estrada, Navarro to start? lol
  8. Nobody is holding a gun to the player's head to have Boras as an agent.
  9. LOL at that kid in the Bautista jersey heckling Calhoun.
  10. Travis stepped up when Izturis went down. Likewise Smoak has to make a big statement with this opportunity if he wants to be considered an everyday player.
  11. If Navarro physically cannot catch Thole would've been up. Going into a game without a backup catcher would be one of the dumbest managerial moves possible.
  12. Watching Sanchez reminds me so much of a young Kelvim Escobar. You could pinpoint the exact at bats where he'd lose his release point and throw ten straight fastballs for balls. Then he'd find it again and shred a batter to pieces. Sanchez overmatched a handful of batters today but looked bad overall much in the same way Escobar used to. Hopefully Sanchez finds himself sooner than Kelvim did, although he did end up becoming a fine starter down the road.
  13. Burn one of Redmond or Estrada tonight, but not both. Just in case Sanchez gets knocked out early tomorrow.
  14. Norris also gave up 2 homers in 3 ABs in his first start. If we're gonna develop young pitching we have to accept growing pains.
  15. Cecil was moved because he didn't have a full ST to build up arm strength. Moving Martin down has more to do with showing Dalton more fastballs. If a manager changed the lineup and closer based on performances from 2 games and a third of an inning he'd be bananas.
