  1. Seriously can we make a thread about second teams to cheer for? I used to root for the Expos, so perhaps I should start to cheer for TB (to leave)? Obvious candidates for me are Athletics, Brewers and Tigers.
  2. Look at Reyes skipping along! $22m worth...... Tolleson, Goins and Pompey in the heart of the field. Wow.
  3. Even though I feel somewhat sorry for the Cubs given the lousy calls, I just loved seeing Maddon get ejected. Is that wrong?
  4. Why....why did you have to mention Jed Lowrie? Too soon....too painful...
  5. Would the black pellets make that much of a difference though? It seems that balls hit into the outfield are just dying and that might be more a product of the turf itself and the woven fibres being too thick.
  6. Just seen it's Sabathia tomorrow; looking forward to seeing the big 5 tee off then. Plus I'm not bloody moving from the set tomorrow until the wins in the bag.
  7. Well, this hurts. But 160 games left and I can't wait to see Norris (the man with the van) pitch tomorrow. We'll get the damned yankees then!
  8. I know - I feel like this is my fault. Had to deal with some urgent stuff. Yikes. It looks like everything that could have gone wrong did - typical Yankee Stadium loss. Somehow we angered the baseball gods in that place.
  9. What the hell just happened? I go out at 3-1 and the Jays cruising; I come back and we've lost? Holy crap - how? Why? Who?
  10. Imagine if all those guys pitching on the 9th do well and others like Syndergaard and Nolin pan out. It would show that we've become practically a pitching factory. Incredible really.
  11. th Looks like DeSclafani is third(!) on the Reds depth chart according to MLB. Nice spot - I'll have to look out on the 9th again. Holy Crap: DeSclafani at 12:35pm, Woj. at 2:10 pm, Graveman at 3:35pm and Norris at 7:05pm. Crazy.
  12. Sorry, no offense meant. Looking forward to seeing Lawrie play for Oakland tonight and pencilling in April 9th to watch Graveman in his first start!
  13. Although in a losing cause, Henderson Alvarez pitched 7 strong against Atlanta and even hit a double!
  14. On a terrible day for the Brew Crew, Lind got 3 for 4.
  15. You are aware that as part of the trade he immediately signed on with the Phillies for 3 more years plus an option? Any trade involving Halladay was always going to involve a contract extension; this did not somehow diminish his trade value in the offseason he was moved. I would also like to see some evidence of the fact that he would only go to 2 or 3 teams; the best information at the time stated a list of teams with more expressing interest and I'm not sure 2-3 teams exactly constitutes a "list." http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=4352032
  16. You're right; we should just judge GM's solely on their win-loss record - forget about analyzing their big trades. After all in that regard AA has actually done really well. Oh, wait.....
  17. A ridiculous article that displays the kind of amateriush buffoonery one would usually expect from the dregs of the average fan forum. The trade has to be looked at in terms of what was given up by the Phillies for Roy Halladay, i.e. Drabek (a bust), d'Arnaud (we still don't know) and Taylor (a bust). To say that we actually got Travis in the trade and thus imply that this was somehow how it was meant to be is ludicrous and utterly flawed. The logic then is that AA knew that in trading for Taylor he would then get Wallace followed by Gose and then Travis all over the span of 4 years. Utterly ridiculous. The trade was a poor trade and we gave up a franchise player in prime form for nothing. Wilner is a rank amateur who somehow still has a job in the Sportsnet organization. Incidentally Wallace was a bust, we've given up on Gose who is also probably a bust and we just don't know about Travis yet.
  18. 81-83 wins works for me. Great top 5 in batting order, poor bottom 4. Great fielding/catching in some positions, real weaknesses at others. Some great potential/steady starting pitching, weak bullpen. At or around .500 seems most likely, unless we can feast on possibly weaker teams in the division.
  19. Yep, fair point. Fangraphs (WAR): Marcum (13-8): 3.5 Morrow (10-7): 3.6 Romero (14-9): 3.7 Cecil (15-7): 2.5
  20. Don't know, don't care. cf 2010 season: WAR: Marcum (13-8): 3.9 Morrow (10-7): 1.6 Romero (14-9): 3.1 Cecil (15-7): 2.1 The new, good young rotation was well on the way apparently.
  21. I remember when 5 years ago people were saying similar things about Marcum, Romero, Cecil and Morrow.
  22. Truthfully, I love Enchiladas with cerdo....
  23. Would you believe Honduran? At least on one side...
  24. Nah, just fooling. Seriously though, I've never seen most of those guys bat.
