  1. I think you disrespect Alex Anthopolous' as a person, even more so than as a GM. He has always been very honest with the media and pretty much everyone he deals with from the sounds of things. He's enjoying a break, spending time with his family. Probably for the first time in his life. There's no secret deal with the Marlins. He didn't give up his dream job, to go to that s*** show organization. Life doesn't always have to be conspiracies and deceit. There really are solid people in this world, who have integrity. I know its earth shattering.
  2. Pleasant surprise yesterday from AfL http://m.bluejays.mlb.com/news/article/156412920/roemon-fields-has-big-day-in-fall-league-win?topicid=153494546
  3. That's a very valid point.
  4. The first half of last season was spent with our potent line-up and no true ace. I think having Stroman will help now, but we need two top end rotation guys or we will not win enough
  5. I just really hope that this conversation never happens because we are winning.
  6. I like 2 of Kazmir, Chen or Iwakuma for rotation. Madson and Lowe for bullpen. I think it would also be nice to see if we could get Mourneau on a decent deal as a left-handed bat to match with Colabello for a platoon. Perhaps even Broxton if you can't get both Lowe and Madson.
  7. I wish they had a filter on this message board that immediately discarded a post containing the words "Leafs".
  8. Cool blog on state of farm. http://lansinglugnuts.mlblogs.com/2015/09/22/blue-jays-prospecting-looking-toward-2016/
  9. I cannot even throw with my left hand. Agree on Rowen, also am intrigued now by Dragmire, Infante and a few others. Rowen can be our own O'Day.
  10. I like this prospect break down. http://lansinglugnuts.mlblogs.com/2015/09/22/blue-jays-prospecting-looking-toward-2016/
  11. Sadly I get excited for 7th RP's like Chad Girodo.
  12. I don't know about that. That being said the signing was definitely different than what we had done previous. That being said the rules have only been in effect for a couple years. The risk of being penalized the next signing period is missing out on a generational talent. The probelem with the rules is you have to be penalized at least one and more likely two years to get any of the top prospects now. Its a damned if you do, damned if you don't set up. Hopefully we see an International draft come into play. I think its just a matter of time.
  13. The Jays still easily have 40-50+ prospects of interest.
  14. NJH. One thing to note...while I agree that this is probably the case, the statement "any study will find the correlation with velocity and TJS" cannot be made as a blanket statement. As someone who did specific research on the TJS (the procedure, more than the biomechanics that cause it however). Science is just the same as advanced sabermetrics, you can have confirmation bias. No study should ever be performed with the thought this will be the results. An educated hypothesis is one thing. You can never say that every TJS is necessitated by velocity, there are so many factors. Genetics, biomechanics, pitching mechanics, usage prior to full muscular/skeletal development, injuries to other parts of the body which change pitching mechanics, lower half and its use in your delivery, etc.
  15. I think it should be noted, that because of signing Vlad Jr., we will not be able to sign any IFA's for over $300,000. That will also limit us from being able to add prospect depth next year. Thanks to being able to trade Locastro and DeJong for International Slot, we will be able to go after the IFA's of 2017, when some major player's are sitting out. That being said, this organization has done a terrific job at getting IFA's in the lower tier, who over achieve what they are signed for. The same can be said with how its drafted College Sr.'s for peanuts who over achieve. That was LaCava and our scouting team doing that. They are still all a part of the front office. I actually think that AA leaving is going to be a positive. I think the real ninja's were behind the scenes. That's not to take anything away from Alex's ability as a GM. Our system is not stripped bare! We have the chance to have a top prospect at every position in a year or two. (Guerrero if he can stick at third, Urena at SS, Travis at 2B maybe even Lane Thomas down the road, Tellez at first (McBroom may be something), Alford/Pompey in the OF (maybe even DJ), Pentecost/Jansen as C's). Pitching wise we have Pimp, Connor Greene, Perdomo, and others who may come back into play like Borucki, Hollon, Robson. Long range guys like Espada, Meza, Maese. Lots of other interesting players. I think the state of the Blue Jays has not been this good since the mid to late 80's.

  18. I'm listening to the game on the radio. Dan Shulman, Aaron Boone, with a step in of Chris Archer is money. Chris Archer is definitely going to be in the booth some day.
  19. The ability to get a ground ball with runners on for a double play is definitely a positive. That being said if you keep runners from reaching base, there is no need for a double play.
  20. The problem and truth of the matter is simply this. The majority of people are happiest being unhappy....
  21. List of teams top prospects playing in Winter League's. http://m.mlb.com/news/article/154939066/dominican-venezuela-winter-leagues-begin
  22. Daniel Norris is a big fan of Jesus Tinoco?
  23. With a runner on third base and less than two out, do you want a batter to hit a ground ball or strike out? If the ball is not put in play, it is no doubt better. I think "pitching to contact" is a silly concept. The whole point of pitching is to create the least amount of contact possible. That's not to say a high ground ball rate is also not a positive. I think if you are "pitching to contact", you are giving the batter a better chance to square up a ball and hit it hard. Weak contact, created by hard pitches with good late movement, or good off-speed pitches, is a different story. I would argue that happens by trying to miss bats though, as I think is what the point that is trying to be made.
  24. The health of our second baseman had nothing to do with upgrading our shortstop.
  25. I'm sorry....seven years playing Independent League Ball. To do what he did this year, I don't care if he hits under the Mendoza line, I'm a fan. For that matter I think he continues to be a decent asset to this team. He was one of our better hitters in the playoffs.
