The Biggio part of this game day topic should be moved to the general blue jays thread as it will need more discussion. Some good points brought up here. My guess is that the front office expected more contributions from the AA and AAA infield talent but almost everyone got off to slow starts or had an injury. The crux of the off-season plan will be to know who's rebound and late season performance is sustainable and can contribute to the major-league roster and which are mirage. It's going to be a very tricky off-season for this management team. -
To use 6 relievers and not have one s*** the bed and cost us a game is...well s***...I dunno. My brain is having trouble processing this. This was a gutsy win from the whole team. Really nice to see. Biggio won us this game, good for him plus nice to see how fired up he was after that unassisted double play. Very intelligent piece of work.

I texted this to a friend earlier...wtf?!?! A ballpark is allowed to have metal exposed enough to cause injury to a player these days? People bitch about the "turf" in some parks but Boston is allowed to have exposed metal that causes cuts that need stiches?

I don't think that anyone thinks this is a complicated thing. It's more of a question of why the Jays "seem" to have a lot of players that are out of shape. The Jays have too many players that have shown up for their seasons in poor conditioning. It is really confusing as to why the Jays don't have this basic s*** under control? It seems to be systematic...players just drafted last year to players that have been in the system for years.

Anyone know the defensive splits comparing Varsho and Merrifield in LF vs Dejong and Merrifield at 2nd. Which combos gave more defensive value? Either way I assume Espi is AAA bound soon?

Post trade deadline feels similar to Post off-season in that the roster still feels like there is a piece missing that might have been working on. I like Cabrera if they continue to focus on his plus pitches. I like DeLong if he stays at ST until Bo is back and then platoons between short and 2nd I like Hicks if they ease him on to the 5th to 8th inning to get some throws in. The lineup is pretty flawed right now with guys hitting in non-optimal positions. The talent on the roster has been able to succeed independently of others most of the time Everybody in a vacuum just kind of affecting others results Been an odd year.

Once Bo is back which of these is the better option? 1) Bo - short, De Jong - 2nd, Merrifield LF 2) Bo - short, Merrifield - 2nd, Varsho - LF I think I prefer option 1 (depending on opposing pitcher of course)
