  2. REALITY CHECK Our starting 5 pitchers are good next year. Our top 4 is good, Manoah is a solid maybe and if not we can sign a decent 5 for cheap. Our bullpen is solid as pure protein, no water Eskimo diet s***. It is coming out next year rock hard. The players they signed to support their "CORE" have done well. The problem is that the players that they signed to support the "core" and provide leadership have instead, carried the team while the players that were supposed to continue to grow have completely s*** the bed. AND the problem with that hasn't been that they are just having statistically improbable seasons, it's that they showed up to camp grossly overweight. I think Atkins true failure so far has been that he over estimated the impact and commitment of his young stars. His signings have provided full value.
  3. Gausman with a masterly pitching performance, deliberately adjusting his pitches so they would not be hit towards 3rd or SS to help out his inexperienced team-mates. Sure it meant he might not go as deep as he wanted, but that is what professionals do. That my friends is a class act. No stupid defensive blunders and no brain-farts running the bases. 1 in a row...1 in a row. Whit has really cooled off lately, smart time to get Springer back to lead-off. Just a season-long observation, but Springer has looked really good in RF this year. I can see him adding plus defense for a few more years. Left in center he would have had no chance to be a plus defender.
  4. August 28 (7:07pm) Vladdy - 1 Point - Springer - 2 Points - Belt - 2 Points - Jansen - 3 Points - Merrifield - 3 Points - Varsho - 3 Points - Spanky, WryNGinger Schneider - 5 Points - JaysAllMighty Kiermaier - 7 Points - Clement - 8 Points - wilko Off the bench: 10 Points -
  5. Same here with the Barrio stuff but he has had almost the opposite response in regards to growing up. It seems like he has double-downed on his juvenile antics. Early in the season he pantomimed putting on the home-run jacket. What the f*** is that about? Showing up your management team? Why do that? He had to know that was a statement. He put himself into the home run contest at the all-star game because "his family wanted him to"? On merit there is no way he should have been a contestant. Wow...he won. It really seems like he thinks it's the Vladdy show and not a team game.
  6. Yah, it would need to be a bonfire to get under all of it.
  7. Texas with 4 in the ninth...
  8. Playing way below expectations and still acting like a clown with his ice baths and strutting around with his shirt untucked pisses me off. I have watched his progress since we signed him all those years ago and was really excited watching him advance up each level but he is becoming one of my least favourite Jay's. Add to that his "safe" calls when he is running and (to me) he has become a guy I want to see humbled so he starts respecting the game and his talents more.
  9. 14/33 with 4 HR's and a 1.373 OPS...that's not bad for pick number 849.
  10. Super impressed by Ryu since he came back. It is obvious he really dug down and put the work in while he was injured. Guy is a beast out there right now. Pitching with a lot of confidence.
  11. I just felt like he was getting use to an new league, new team and new expectations after being traded. I think this version of Varsho is pretty close to what we will have on our team for the next few years.
  12. I will take Belt for Sunday's game.
  13. I'll go with Varsho for Saturday. If he's out then bench.
  14. In autumn I realize the Jay's suck and start to look forward to NHL training camp. In the Spring I realize the Canucks suck and start to look forward to Spring training...rinse and repeat.
  15. August 25 (7:07pm) Bichette - 1 Point - Vladdy - 1 Point - LTBF Springer - 2 Points - Wilko Belt - 2 Points - Spanky Chapman - 3 Points - Merrifield - 3 Points - JaysAllMighty Varsho - 3 Points - WryNGinger Kirk - 4 Points - robinthicc, Dylan Kiermaier - 7 Points - Jonn Off the bench: 10 Points -
  16. Is there a player in the league that gets f***ed by umps more than Biggio? (not literally of course...that's none of my business)
  17. August 24 (7:05pm) Bichette - 1 Point - Vladdy - 1 Point - JaysAllMighty Springer - 2 Points - Belt - 2 Points - Chapman - 3 Points - Jansen - 3 Points - Merrifield - 3 Points - Varsho - 3 Points - WryNGinger Biggio - 5 Points - Off the bench: 10 Points -
  18. Angels have/had two of the best players in MLB history on their team at the same time and accomplished butt f*** zero... revisionist history will probably allow them to play the injury card a few seasons from now. Truth is that team never stood a chance to compete unless those two were playing like co-MVP's and it never happened.
  19. Come on Blue Jays! Do it for Peter Angelos!
  20. No because it wouldn't have been a bold prediction. All of us genius baseball doods here knew it was a foregone conclusion.
  21. Agreed and I hope that is the case. At this point he is a distraction and his production is suspect at best on the major league roster right now. I hope they are saying that they don't need him to go down to Buffalo now because he isn't going to get a call up anyway. A couple of good outings at AAA won't mean he gets trusted in a playoff game. He needs to get his body and mind straightened out and see you in Spring Training 2024 big guy.
  22. Wait...are grandmothers basements just dismissed out of hand now?
  23. He threw 86 in his previous start and the idea of recovery is to show progress...which he is doing. He was cruising at 83 pitches against a young team that 'might...ahem' allow him to to work on his stuff without a huge risk of getting lit-up. Post season is around corner and it was a risk free opportunity to see if he could maybe go an extra inning and hit 90-ish pitches. Get 2 guys up to mitigate the risk and let him chuck a couple more. PLUS the fact he is free agent next season...I don't think he was begging to be pulled because he felt overworked.
  24. f***ing Schneider...83 pitches and he was still cruising...
