  1. well, that's good that they're optimistic about Tulo staying healthy. of course, if an infiender gets hurt, you can always DL him (but he'll have to miss the next series too.)
  2. if we're down 1-2, then maybe Price in game 4. if we're up 2-1, then no way Price in game 4. (don't think it's that bad a situation for Dickey since he probably won't be pitching in miserable weather in Arlington.)
  3. also makes Stroman available in the unlikely event that he's needed out of the pen in game 5.
  4. good thing the Jays lead baseball in sacrifice flies.
  5. plus the supporting cast ain't half bad.
  6. it would really suck if it was 2:00 pm check in time at the hotel.
  7. you're aware that the Jays didn't have Sanchez, Hawkins & Lowe in their pen a couple of months ago, right? biased? ... when i've already clearly stated (in this thread) that I don't think Gibbons is a great manager? the Gibby avatar is used in good fun to mock all of the whiny "it's the manager's fault!" "fire the manager!!!" meltdown clowns who firmly insisted that the Jays could NEVER win so long as Gibbons was the manager . . . sound familiar?
  8. Maybe print this post and tape it to your fridge for future reference. Gibbons will never ask Donaldson, Bautista or Edwin to bunt. Ever. If one of them squares around, he's doing it on his own to either try to draw the corners in or because he thinks he can capitalize on the huge element of surprise. So no, bro, Gibbons wasn't telling his slugger (on his way to a MVP season) to lay one down early in the game with runners on the corners against Cody Anderson. Hope this helps.
  9. Holy s***! lol if you were being even remotely serious (about Gibbons calling for the bunt) then it'd be wise to refrain from commenting on stuff where you're just embarrassing yourself. no offence, bro maybe you're new to baseball? (I hope)
  10. where did I say or suggest that Maddon isn't "one of the better managers in the game?" (in fact, I began by stipulating that I wanted to hear names other that Maddon, Bochy & Hurdle) we're talking about GREAT managers (which many of you sheep buy the hype about) explain to me how Joe Maddon is a great on-field general? (... because he can't be seen without his big bright card of matchups in his hand? haha) if a manager can turn a clear non-playoff team into a playoff team because of something he's doing, then (yeah) i'll acknowledge that he's great.
  11. bought into the Joe Maddon hype much? lol well who doesn't love a personable guy who's quick with a quip? must be a great manager for all those themed road trips ... (and pajamas a couple of nights ago... ahh how cute!) how about when he brought that old Native American medicine man into the Trop last season to help turn around his team's fortunes? that was great! and what about when he set his batting order 867-5309 for a game in Detroit? that was great too!! (too bad TB lost and only scored one run) TB the last couple of years have had injuries, but it's odd that rook manager (with a rebuilding team) is getting better results than Genius Joe did last year with what was predicted to be a playoff team? Joe is smart enough to know that when the players are good, the team does good. (And when the players are bad, the team does bad.) That's why he hightailed it out of TB as fast as possible when the opportunity arose to take over a team with the best young talent in the game.
  12. you must know a lot about evaluating managers so what makes those names great managers?
  13. probably not with a 75 cent dollar.
  14. with Edwin being red hot, ya don't want him being pitched around too easily. (and Tulo still scares other teams as evidenced by his intentional walk tonight.)
  15. are you drunk, bro? Smoak came in with the Jays leading going into the 7th. are you still contemplating your list of great managers currently in baseball?
  16. who's on your list of great managers in baseball? (besides Bochy, Maddon, Hurdle who many would be quick to name)
  17. sounds like many of the 43% who disapproved (some vehemently) of Alex a few short weeks ago are now worried that he might bolt the organization ... lol
  18. Red Sox just 3 games back of the Orioles now.
  19. whenever Casey Janssen & Adam Lind catch some Blue Jays highlights these days they must be kinda sad that they ain't here no more.
  20. ya think there's any realistic chance that we can be 8 up on the Yanks before we embark on the final 7 game road trip of the season? with the amazing electricity/atmosphere in the stadium right now (near the end of August), it's a shame that we likely won't be in position to experience the glorious pandemonium of clinching the division on home turf.
  21. yeah, Alomar's was the most important home run in Blue Jays history for sure. the Jays already had Mitch Williams (and the Phillies) on the ropes in game 6 (and in the series) with or without Joe's blast.
  22. Jays (with home field advantage) vs Astros in DCS And then Jays vs Royals in ALCS would be epic And then Jays vs Cubs
  23. how do the Yankees have a better schedule? both teams have 18 home games left. both teams play mostly the East plus Atlanta. the Jays have 6 against the Tigers & Tribe, while the Yankees have 7 against the Mets & White Sox.
  24. speaking of Stieb ... laughable that he wasn't voted one of the Jays "Franchise Four." Stieb over Joe Carter is a no brainer. Hell, i'd take Tony Fernandez over Carter too.
