  1. Jays are 6-0 with Tulo as the leadoff man. If the team continues to roll with Travis out, I wouldn't mess with the top of the lineup. So i'd probably plug Travis into the 7th spot ahead of Pillar & Revere.
  2. kudos to the ejected Gibby for coming back out from the clubhouse on Sunday to join his team for the melee on the field.
  3. well if the Jays win game 163 vs the Yankees, then we take the division (so no WC game.)
  4. You never throw behind a batter's head. Stroman was wrong to do it with Joseph and the same with O'Day & Bautista.
  5. How about a Jays-Yankees showdown in game 163 for the division? And (if Travis or Tulo can't go) Ryan Goins will be Bucky Dent.
  6. bobblehead aside, crazy demand for a game vs the Twins in early August? who would've thunk it just a short while ago? thanks AA
  7. yes, because as has been clearly shown over the past 24 hrs (with Valencia, Revere etc.) , Alex makes all these roster and playing time decisions unilaterally without consulting Gibby ...
  8. brilliant decisions by Gibby to start Dickey on 3 days rest ... play the hunch with Cola today ... and think outside the box with Revere hitting 9th.
  9. another "lucky" hit by Colabello ... why is Lou Gehrig (Justin Smoak) sitting today??? and why oh why is Cola hitting 5th???
  10. Price will ge getting 12 starts for the Jays (6 home and 6 away) regardless whether he pitches today or tomorrow. (13 starts if there's a WC game) By starting tomorrow, his turn will come up against the Yankees both this weekend and next weekend.
  11. well, yeah, that's why Smoak's being used the way he is ... should start against most righties and come in late for defense. (at least so long as Cola continues to contribute with the stick...)
  12. sucks to be a Jays fan knowing that if the team succeeds this season (gets to the division series) then the "moronic" manager will be back haha (love it)
  13. ballplayers are creatures of habit ... they follow routines religiously ... like predictability and don't like surprises so now that Revere is the everyday LFer, Gibby will be rolling out the same batting order day in and day out (just with Smoak & Cola being interchangeable, Navarro spelling Martin occasionally, and Tulo getting some days off from the turf)
  14. Travis likely is the lead off guy next year ... for the stretch run the bottom of my order would be Travis/Pilar/Revere.
  15. up to this point in the season, hitting Cola 5th has been a mistake? ... it basically couldn't have worked out better so far (and that's where Lou Gehrig ... I mean Justin Smoak would be when he's in there)
  16. well, yeah, Colabello is a fringe guy who's been swinging a lucky magic wand this season but the way Smoak is hyped on here you'd think he's the second coming of Lou Gehrig ... makes little difference who's hitting 5th & 6th ... actually makes sense to put the two slow guys (Edwino & Cola) back to back and the two better runners together (Martin & Pilar.)
  17. yeah, I like Valencia and he's a better all around player than Colabello but with Revere now everyday in LF, Danny's just gonna be riding some serious pine ... would anybody prefer Valencia instead of Cola up there in the 9th against Holland?
  18. If Gibbons is gonna stack the top of the lineup by leading off with Tulo (with Revere batting ninth) then ya gotta give Gibby some props. How many other managers in the game (if any) would be smart enough to bat Tulo & Donaldson 1-2?
  19. the first few crazy fans probably start lining up at 9ish.
  20. You chose a great first game to attend with David Price starting and (as close as we can get to) "pennant race" atmosphere in early August haha. Where are your seats? Does it not say the Gate on your tickets or printout? yeah, Price + Martin bobblehead + holiday (for some) = sellout If it's your first game, why not get there slightly before the gates open at 11:00 and watch some BP? There will be lines forming in front of the gates before 11:00 am.
  21. The season ends on a Sunday and (I believe) the A.L. WC game is on the Tuesday ... therefore if a team wants their ace ready to pitch the WC game on normal 4 days rest then he has to sit for the final series of the season ... which is interesting (and risky) if that team is still battling for a division title or desperately trying to snag the 2nd WC spot.
  22. if the Jays play well over the next couple of months then Gibbons will be back. if they don't, he won't. simple as that.
  23. you want Alex fired or not? what happened to your "Goodbye AA" signature?
  24. well Alex is certainly giving Beeston a nice little retirement present ... August & September will be the most exciting 2 months of Blue Jays baseball since '93 ... pretty good chance Price gets us to at least the Divisional series ... nobody wants to face the Jays in a WC game ... don't even think the Yankees are home and dry yet (but 8 back in the loss column with just 60 left is a tall task)
  25. i'm just repeating what i've read almost everybody on here (who has chimed in on Reyes) state ... that we're stuck with him because he's impossible to trade.
