  1. That's a fair point. It's a real nuisance that our park could factor into our abilities to sign FA's. Maybe Grandy is all about the dollar bills yo. I kind of doubt it though. I think I've read he's a great teammate overall. He's probably looking for a ring. Maybe it has to be a guy like Cargo who's simply looking to rebuild value. Meh.
  2. Ethier had 64 PA's in the majors over the past 2 years. I don't know man... Grandy might be a solid vet option though. We need a lefty and he's averaged 2.3 WAR per year over the past 2 seasons. Still runs well and plays decent defense. He also walks a lot, which is a nice change up from our free swingers. I'd have to imagine we could get him on a 1 year deal (maybe with a 2nd year option). Lynn at $13M per + Grandy for $8M.
  3. I think I could stomach 4 years $56M; however, that would probably leave us with a glaring need in the OF. How good would Lynn at $14M and Yelich at $7M in 2018 look? (Yelich for Bo + Urena, or Alford, Warmoth + C.Greene). Yelich - RF Donaldson - 3rd Smoak - 1st Morales - DH Martin - C Tulo - SS Travis - 2nd Pillar - CF Teoscar - LF B - Diaz, Solarte, Pearce, Catcher Stro, Sanchez, Happ, Estrada, Lynn (Borucki, Biagini, Deck, etc.) Edit - Holy f***, out lineup still looks awful even if we add an impact bat to fill out the OF...
  4. What do you guys think Lance Lynn will end up getting? I suspect Shatkins will focus on filling our needs in the OF, but if they don't, I think Lynn could be a good target. He'll be two years removed from TJ surgery and I think there's a decent chance he returns to his 2012 - 2015 levels (during which he averaged 3.3 WAR per season - or a #2 starter). He'll be 31 this year and would help bridge the gap if we lose Happ and/or Estrada after this year. I also read he made significant improvements with his change up in the 2nd half last year (albeit a SSS as he doesn't throw it much). Perhaps sending time with Marco would help him develop a new weapon that would help as he ages. Given the slow market and coming off a "down" season - is there a chance he ends up with a JA Happ type deal? 3 yr $33M. I kind of expected him to get 3 years $45M when the FA season opened, but it's been so slow, I'm wondering if the price is dropping. Thoughts?
  5. NJH - are you going to grace us with detailed suggestions on what moves you think the Jays should make this offseason? I really enjoyed reading and discussing your suggestions last year.
  6. https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/yangervis-solarte-and-the-blue-jays-attempt-to-thread-the-needle/ breakdown on the trade here. https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/instagraphs/padres-acquire-lottery-ticket-edward-olivares/ Article on Olivares here.
  7. I can't ignore that 3-13 record either
  8. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think he's going to have much impact either way. Rule 5 picks usually suck and unfortunately, I think we've already seen the best of Biagini. He's a depth guy who adds value because he can start or pitch in relief.
  9. Jesus - you guys lose sleep to watch games? That's amazing. I don't even stay up to watch the west coast games.
  10. Lackey's a f***ing douche. Hard no.
  11. http://sportsmasher.com/2017/10/10/blue-jays-star-josh-donaldson-allegedly-got-busted-cheating-on-girlfriend-with-reporter-jackie-redmond/
  12. Did I miss the discussion about how Jackie Redmond was apparently f***ing Donaldson last year and his girlfriend found out...possibly explaining his slump. She's now going to the NHL Network. My apologies if this has already been discussed...
  13. SD has reportedly offered Hosmer a 7 year deal. Yikes.
  14. Is there anyway to get Juan Soto and Carter Kieboom from the Nationals? Can we catch them in a "win now" mode before Harper leaves via free agency? Would that be the type of package we'd want for Osuna?
  15. ZIPS also threw down a MIKE TYSON comp for Yolmer Sanchez. That guy must carry one hell of a right hook.
  16. A friend of mine was sleeping with Patrick Brown for a bit about a year ago.
  17. Yeah just watched his 2017 highlights. He does look fat. Looks like a hitter though.
  18. Thank you sir. Can he play the OF? If so, I'd love to land him. He's put up some huge numbers in the minors.
  19. what Choi are we talking about? Stro needs a side gig - what a joke.
  20. I'm actually kind of happy there are consequences for being an attention seeking douche bag.
  21. I assume you're trolling. Reds aren't trading for JD and what do you like/see in Winker? I kind of think a package like Almora, Happ + a lottery ticket in Aramis Ademan or something like that might be the best we can get for an expiring contract.
  22. I'd take Happ + Almora for JD. Cubbies could play Bryant in the OF and JD at 3rd. Then deal Pillar to the Giants when they fail to land Billy Hamilton.
  23. To be fair to Jim, in 2010, Morrow was on pace for 5 WAR/200 innings, 3.6 WAR/200 in 2011 and 3.9 WAR/200 innings in 2012. That's basically the same as Stroman in 2014, 2016, 2017. I think those are #1/#2 numbers. That said - I think it's a stretch to think Morrow would still be a top of the rotation guy in 2018.
  24. re: potential Machado trade....."The Cubs purportedly offered a package of Addison Russell, Albert Almora and Mike Montgomery but were rebuffed." That seems like a pretty good offer for an expiring contract.
