    Which is another reason he should have significant trade value. This is all whether you think the team can actually compete for the playoffs next year. If you think they can, you keep Happ. If you don't - you trade him now while he has more value.

    I realize WAR is WAR, but it would be difficult filling 2 of the OF spots with 85 wRC+ hitters.

    I suspect he'll get a 4-5 year deal and will be overpaid. He's been a 99 wRC+ hitter now for 2 years and will be 32 next year. Bad player management is never good - no matter how much money the owner has.

    Sorry if this was already posted - thought it was cool. Gibby's awesome. Jordan Gibbons, the daughter of Toronto Blue Jays manager John Gibbons, is a musician. A singer-songwriter who plays the acoustic guitar, she fronts an alternative country band called Southtown. They recently did a show in downtown Toronto, and not only was the proud father there, so was “Country Joe” West. “John knows the umpires pretty well, and Joe West was doing the plate on Saturday afternoon,” explained Blue Jays broadcaster Jerry Howarth. “In the middle of the game, something came up and John ran out on the field. He went straight to Joe West. Joe said, ‘What are you doing out here? It wasn’t that big of a deal.’ John said, ‘I know, Joe. Just between us, I’m out here to tell you that if you want to see my daughter play tonight, I’ve got tickets for you.’ Joe said, ‘I’m going. Thank you very much. Put me on the list.’” According to Howarth, “it was the best visit John had with an umpire all weekend.”

    DSJ has a chance man. Don't downplay him so much.

    One could argue giving him a chance to play on a contending team is a respectful way to let a legend move on. That would be an easier PR sell than when they decline his mutual option this off-season.
