  1. Twits on the radio. I was just saying his BABIP has deflated and he's back to being the awful hitter he has been every since leaving A+ ball. Get off my back.
  2. I respect the s*** out of Jose. By studying the game and working his ass off, he became a phenomenal player - arguably the best hitter in baseball for a short period. He carried this franchise though bad times and then through the good times. His HR v. Texas is something I'll never forget. I watched it with my 5 year old son, leap over the table, ran out into the street and screamed at the top of my lungs. That inning was unreal. That said - I never liked his personality or the way he treated umpires and I don't think he deserves a statue.
  3. Yep - that's what I said. I'm just saying we can stop talking about him like he has a chance to make the team next year. He's a 21 year old who posted a wRC+ of 73 in over 500 PA's in AA this year. He came up and the BABIP gods graced him with a hot start. He's fallen back to earth.
  4. I'm not so sure Goins could EAD well. Probably a gagger.
  5. No offense, but a pitcher who's 12-6 with an ERA of 3.49 with 175 innings pitched doesn't deserve consideration. Kershaw is 17-3 with an ERA of 2.12. It looks like him and Grienke will battle it out, while the 2 Washington pitchers cancel each other out. Kershaw at 20-3 with an ERA in the low 2's in only 27 starts would be impressive.
  6. Looks up stats, Kluber has more wins, fewer loses and a lower ERA than Sale. He's clearly the favourite. NL should be interested. Kershaw leads all those categories, but has missed time. Crazy to see Estrada is tied for the 28th best qualified starting pitcher in the majors (by WAR) this year. Tied with Mike Leake, who as basically just given away to anyone who would take his contract.
  7. And Urena's hot streak is over...
  8. EXTRA THICC cf
  9. I was in Cleveland this summer so here goes: 1. Grab supper on 4th Street East. It's a narrow lane that they have closed off traffic to. It's lined with restaurants and pubs that all have patio's along the lane. It's got a great vibe to it. We ate at Butcher and the Brewer (brew pub) and it was great. Try the Patatas Bravas with chorizo and egg as an app (share with others if you can - it's massive). If you like craft beer, a lot of reviewers raved over the Albino Stout. One of the guys in our group had it and loved it to the point he made us go back there after the game to get a growler of it. The Greenhouse Tavern is also on 4th Street East and the reviews said it's awesome. 2. If you want to save some money, buy the cheapest seat in the house and then simply go to the standing room in the right field corner. Great atmosphere and a decent view. There's a lot of bars right behind you there with a really good selection of beers, ciders, etc. There's no reason to sit in the upper bowl unless you're right behind home plate. That's all I've got. We didn't go out after the game as we were too hung over from the previous night and had a tee off time in the morning. Cleveland didn't seem nearly as sketchy as others make it out to be. You could also check out the Rock n Roll HOF if you're into that sort of thing.
  10. I never look at average. I looked at his 73 wRC+, 5.4% walk rate and 0 SBs and threw up in my mouth a little.
  11. Who'd you pick up? Carlos Correa??
  12. I was just making a joke, but my concern is he's only hit in the lower levels. He's been trash in over 680 PA's in AA so far. He isn't a patient hitter, nor does he have much speed. There just aren't many stats that suggest he'll be anything more than Ryan Goins. In fact, Goins was a significantly better hitter than Urena in AA over approximately the same number of PA's. He's just on a heater right now (BABIP at .458).
  13. Actually, there's not. His best stat might be his age.
  14. Club Erotica. They also have the VIP room for lappers + rooms for private, behind closed doors dances (which I'd never seen before).
  15. Who are we? The 2014 Seattle Mariners?
  16. PNC is pretty awesome. I was there this past summer. Great strippers too....$20 cover for all you can drink, full nude Are those the Jays 'away' inter league games? What NL teams come to Toronto?
  17. True. He really should hire Mark Trumbo's agent. Those 2 aren't "that" different.
  18. I can't believe Mark Reynolds got enough PA's this year to accumulate 30 hrs and 100 rbis (or to be approaching those milestones). All while their big FA signing, who for some reason was pegged to play 1st base, Ian Desmond has put up the worst year of his career and has a WAR of -0.9. Baseball is a funny sport at times.
  19. You don't decide the course of future prospects based on 1 case study man. That's dumn.
  20. Ah - Fangraphs refers to him as Jose Silva. Looks like he was dominant as a 18 and 19 year old in Rk and A ball, but quickly fizzled out and was a nobody. Big time strikeouts back when they weren't valued much.
  21. Could be....but even with his great season he's having, his career wRC+ is only 112. Same as Morales. I wouldn't touch him with a 10' pole (based on what I think he'll get).
  22. This should help him secure more gold gloves for his spectacular defense... His FB% is now at 22 on the year, which is a career low (GB% is at 53.5 on the year). Good luck to whoever is going to give him a big contract this offseason. He's done a remarkable job of alternating good and bad season also: Year: wRC+, WAR 2011: 113, 1.0 2012: 80, -1.7 2013: 120, 3.2 2014: 98, 0.0 2015: 124, 3.4 2016: 102, -0.2 2017: 141, 4.1
