    Lost in this is the fact that Buck Martinez just (before the HR), suggested MLB replay shouldn't be allowed to review whether a base runner comes off the bag...he wants that left up to the umps eye? So much stupid.

    Hicks was coming off a 1.5 WAR year (in only 390 PA's) and somehow the Yankees got him for nothing. Always a talented guy - I do count that as a gamble move, although the Yankees should have had to give up more. Didi was acquired in the Shane Greene / Robbie Ray 3-team trade. All 3 players had value in their own right and all 3 have become legit ML players. This was a rather expensive 'gamble' on Didi.

    The funny thing is the casual fan should love Gibby. The man is a walking legend on the "good ole boys" meter and his "f***in beauty" level is off the charts. There's a reason he survived as manager through a front office change over. He's a really good fit for this team right now.

    Profar and Kemp are both excellent targets. I doubt they come cheap though (I guess Profar might). Regardless, finding the next super utility guy (Zobrist, Nunez) before they get established/expensive/valued would fill a significant hole for this team.

    I'm pleasantly surprised at all the Brandon Morrow love. At one point, he was my favourite pitcher in baseball to watch. C'mon 'Stros - need a win tonight.

    The sad part it was my father-in-law who told me about the article. He said Steve Simmons ripped the Jays a new one and although he couldn't exactly recount which GM the article spoke about, he generally agreed with Simmons. Unfortunately, he's getting old and battling cancer - so I had to bite my lip and nod along with him. To be fair to him, he thought it was Pat Gillick that went from selling tickets and working on the grounds crew, before working his way up to GM.
