  1. Remember when Ellsbury was the best player in baseball in 2011? The good ole days. It's too bad he plays for the Yanks - as he'd be a decent fit for the Jays if the Yanks would eat 40%+ of his contract. I'd take him at 3 years, $13.66M AAV.
  2. Wat? All I'm saying is they got 3 highly regarded prospects for Doc. Are prospects a risk and do they bust often? Of course, but we got some value for Doc (FWIW - TDA jumped to #36 overall in 2011). If you're simply going to look at the results of that trade and claim they got zero for him - and - based on that, claim we won't get anything for JD - then I'll disengage in his conversation because you're a putz.
  3. You mean the 25th, 29th (Wallace was the 27th) & 81st prospects in baseball? (per BA 2010 rankings)
  4. I bet you love the Yankees facial hair policy too eh? I mean what is with people and those stupid beards! They look ridiculous and embarrass the company.
  5. Because Donaldson is good at beisbol. Like really good.
  6. You forgot Brett Gardner. Ellsbury is the 4th OFer...
  7. Meh to both then. I guess Reyes is the key to the deal, but guys like Gyroko and Grichuk are just so meh. Such low upside guys.
  8. I knew one of them had a lot of hard contact. I don't think you're fixing that K/BB ratio man. He's like Javy Baez with the stick.
  9. Would we be better off with Stephen Piscotty than Grichuk? Grichuk's proven over the past 900 PA's that he's a below average hitter with massive K's and no walks. He never really even hit in the minors. I mean he runs better than Piscotty, and has better D, but Piscotty until last year, it looked like Piscotty can actually hit (wasn't he hurt a bit last year?). Piscotty is also locked up to 2022 at a reasonable price. Am I missing something? (I'm probably missing something). I have negative interest in Grichuk. I'd rather have a lottery ticket.
  10. Is this reincarnation of Cleveland Steamer / RealAccountant?
  11. Trammell and Robbie Alomar also had similar careers.
  12. Why the f*** would they elect Jack Morris to the HOF?
  13. f*** I hate this. Jeter is a 4% bobblehead. He has nothing to do with anything.
  14. Let's turn this thread into another recount of how f***ing stupid and unbearable Stro is. What a douche bag.
  15. Sorry, when I read "lineup core" - I though offense, not defense. To be honest, despite his WAR totals, I never considered Kevin Pillar as part of the Jays "core" in 2015 or 2016. Their offense was 10th of 15 in the AL last year. A full season of Trout and Upton will certainly help, as will whatever Ohtani provides, but I just don't see them as a good offensive team. The rotation could be good, if healthy - but that's been a massive issue the past couple of years. They were 5 games out of the 2nd WC spot last year and 11 games out of the 1st WC spot. They don't even have any young players in their lineup who are expected to make significant improvement (unless you believe in CJ Cron - which you shouldn't). They are going to have to continue to add payroll to make this a "good" team I'm afraid unless they incredible lucky with SP'ing health. That blueprint rarely works.
  16. Man I don't trust Justin Upton - never will. I think there's a solid chance he posts another wRC+ of 105 in 2018
  17. Yunior Severino signing with the Twins.
  18. ahhh - these guys were league average hitters. I think it's a stretch to call it a great core.
  19. Interesting. If you're going to LA - why on earth would you choose the Angels over the Dodgers? The only logical answer is because they play in the AL and thus give him the opportunity to DH....but the Angels have Pujols for the next 47 years clogging that s*** up - so I don't get it unless they told him they were going to stand Pujols at first base. Assuming the Angels leave Pujols at DH - I'd render a guess he'd of racked up more PA's with the Dodgers (between hitting for himself + pinch hit duties). Maybe the Angels plan on sitting Pujols once or twice a week to let Ohtani DH (but not regularly)?
  20. Yeah I read Wil Myers confirmed he'd be willing to move to the OF if the landed Hosmer. I mean if Myers is competent in the OF, I have no idea why they would zap his value by putting him at 1st. I guess that's why they are the Padres.
  21. They should have just traded him before he signed the massive deal. That deal killed his value.
  22. Ohtani Paxton Felix Leake Iwakuma Decent rotation. Do we think King Felix is done or what?
  23. I can't say I blame Stanton. This is what can happen when you hand out a NTC.
  24. C'mon man - they say "since Babe Ruth" I didn't realise this guy brings the heat. We're planning our annual baseball trip (BAL, WAS, PHI this year). We're going to wait and see where Ohtani lands and give ourselves a shot at seeing him live.
