I dont know what Tellez will become - he'll probably never amount to anything. But - I love seeing him having some immediate success after all he's been through over the past 2 years with his mom. Good on ya kid. -
Referring to Pentecost as a catcher is like referring to Miggy as a 3rd baseman or Victor Martinez as a catcher. We're not adding Pentecost to the 40 man.

I might be missing an inside joke, but didn't Arizona implement a humidor this year, which was thought to decrease offense? Also - Goldy had a brutal start to the year and was having REAL trouble with hard throwers. I think at one point he was the worst hitter in baseball on fastballs 95 MPH+ Like all great hitters (he's 43rd all time in wRC+), he made the adjustment and is now pounding ML pitchers harder than Ron Jeremy circa 1986.

Reed Johnson's career OBP was .335 at the major league level. His career OBP in the minors was .381 - so again, your comparison is s***.

I mean yeah - I love aggressive base running and putting pressure on the defense, but that first play is stupid. A decent throw and he's out by a mile. With 1 out, you stay at third in that situation.

I refuse to believe we still live in a world where W-L record is going to be a major factor in deciding the Cy Young Award winner. King Felix broke that mold back when he was good and he hasn't been good for a long time now.

meh - that's just GM talk (as is the couldn't pass thru waivers v. was claimed talk). You can't expect him to say "nah - I highly doubt that jackass is interested in re-signing here" or "we have no interest in bringing JD back at any cost"

It's remarkable to see Greg Maddux posed ERA's of 1.56 and 1.63 in back to back years ('94, '95). 19-2 with a 1.63 ERA is f'ing insane.

That's a really cool clip. I don't understand why the Goose Gossage's of the world can't accept this type of thinking. They use the analytics to understand the opponent (and themselves) better, while still acknowledging that at the end of the day it's still a baseball game and you can't be a robot. It seems like a really simple concept (yes I know the answer is people hate change).
