Is stealing signs even against the rules of baseball? Or is this another unwritten rule thing? Won't this fall into the same thing as steroids? (in that their use wasn't actually against the rules at one point) Any history of football teams stealing signals/signs using cameras? I mean isn't that why coaches cover their mouth when sending the play in?

The Astros had to know some ex-player would eventually rat them out right? I wonder what will happen if other ex-players rat out other teams now - before any investigation is complete or punishments handed down. I think I've seen others claim the Brewers and another couple (Red Sox?) also use cameras to steal signs.

What suspension did Milbury get when he went into the stands and beat a man with his own shoe? Do we have other examples in sports where players used weapons to fight? I always find it comical when there are 'rules' to how you're allowed to fight (when fighting isn't within the rule books). Does Pouncey just get 1 game if he only throws punches? Was it the kicks that got him the extra 2 games?

Because this team wasn't in a position for sustained success. We certainly seem to be following the Astros blueprint. We're just now at the time when we start to spend to add to the core (+ there's another wave of prospects on their way). This isn't that hard to follow. -
Teams must have metrics that tell them high leverage RP's are worth a lot more than we see.

But Wheeler's posted the 9th most combined WAR the past 2 seasons...what's wrong with his results? I'm with Ray on this one. 5 years $75M to $90M - sign me up.

Not quite sure what that has to do with draft pick compensation. This very well could be Odorizzi betting on himself. I don't think anyone expects him to get a AAV over $17.8M and he may feel the market is saturated with options this year. Instead of taking 3 years $45M, he may want to take $17.8M - prove his success last year is sustainable and enter the market in 2020 as one of the top arms available.

Teheran just seems like another depth guy. 2.3 WAR in 350 innings the past 2 seasons is super mediocre. High BB% guys also drive me nuts. Keuchel? Meh.

It's pretty incredible that OG is just a fraction below Kawhi's production this year...He's been incredible.

And that was in just 160 innings. With a couple more starts, he's probably 16th overall - right behind Wheeler. That said, you have to believe the improvements he made last year are sustainable. If they are, he's not a #3 pitcher like others keep suggesting. If they aren't, then he probably is more of a mid rotation type. Wheeler repeated his 2018 breakout and thus is probably more likely to remain a top 20, top of the rotation pitcher. There's also a thought that with better coaching and pitch use that he has untapped potential.

I was just curious if people saw a difference between watching the live broadcast v. watching a secret camera that's been set up in CF. Can they watch the broadcast and look for a pitcher tipping his pitches? Or can you only use the naked eye? What about people looking at game tape (pregame) to pick up on a pitcher tipping his pitches? I didn't even take a side on this man - I just posed some questions for discussion. You people need to calm the f*** down. You come here, enjoy this message board and then get all riled up every time someone says something you don't agree with.

Is there a tangible difference between a 'team' cheating and their individual players cheating? I mean there are players on every team in baseball that cheat. Would a team really set up this elaborate system to cheat - knowing all their players would be privy to the cheating (and thus obviously knowing that eventually, someone would rat them out?) What if the TV in the tunnel was simply running the TV broadcast and players took it upon themselves to stand there, watch it, pick up on the signals and then relay them from the bench (just as they would if a pitcher was tipping his pitches - which they could see from their angle on the bench).

I mean what I said - blah. I don't really care. I'm sure the FB/Twitter world is outraged and want an asterisk next to the 2017 World Series Championship now. I'm sure that like you, they've drawn many comparisons with Patriots and posted lots of unoriginal memes, which they mistakenly think makes them feel cleaver. I'm also sure if you tried to have a discussion on the matter with them - they've already made up their mind. so yeah - blah.

Isn't it a tad hypocritical for someone of English/Irish decent to criticize how immigrant's aren't embracing the history and traditions from 'natives'? Is it possible for immigrants to be more destructive than the English/French/Irish were when they immigrated to North America?

Just to clarify, do don't think he's talking about immigrants and minorities? or you think what he's saying is accurate? (or both)
