  1. For f*** sakes - 2 people shot outside of the Washington/SD game tonight. Game postponed. C'mon 'Merica.
  2. Can you (or someone) explain this? What happens to the guys drafted 10-20?
  3. Someone just threw a baseball and hit Verdugo in the back. He isn't happy.
  4. f*** - more forearm tightness for deGrom. Why can't we have nice things?
  5. Dumb question time. Could the Jays have drafted me in the 20th round and offered me $1 to sign and then used the other $124,999 to sign someone else?
  6. Thank god we rebranded and got new uniforms. f***. But - I love that commercial. I generally love all the Jays commercials they've done over the years. Jays back home? Let's f***ing go! Makes me emotional thinking about it. I don't know what tickets will cost, but you bet you're ass I'm taking my 3 boys to a game this year.
  7. Why would fighting be considered part of the 'implied consent' when you get kicked out of the game if it happens. I mean if you get an elbowing penalty, that's a type of assault, but you aren't removed from the game (just penalized) and thus one would think that's more 'part of the game'. And I'm definitely talking more about youth/amateur sports. If a fight broke out during a curling match - would it fall under 'implied consent' or would it be considered assault? Would that be any different than a baseball game? If so, why? Both are non-contact sports. That said - I do get Jim's point about why would fists be anymore or less assault than spearing someone with a hockey stick (especially if it's deliberate). I guess if people successful sued players for spearing them on purpose, then players would end up being a lot more careful with their actions (maybe that's a good thing - but maybe not). That said - I would argue there are thousands of cases where players attempt to injure others that are very obvious that do not result in lawsuits. Quoting 3 cases over the past say 40 years doesn't cut it (we'll assume s*** that happened pre 1980's doesn't count because everyone was a barbarian back then). f*** - was Millbury every charged with assault for beating that fan up with his own shoe? How about Domi for fighting the guy who fell into the penalty box? I think we become desensitized because it's 'always been that way' and stop using our brains.
  8. This one fascinates me. If one kid fights another kid during a high school basketball game and beats the living piss out of him, is that considered a 'normal course of that sport'? What about if that happens in a high school curling match? football? baseball? Do age groups matter? Is there ever a situation where a minor gets the s*** beat out of him and it shouldn't be considered assault? I think not, with the exception perhaps being MMA, boxing, martial arts, etc. I might be OK with that. I'll assume that some will answer 'no' to some/all of my questions above, so why is it considered OK in hockey? I mean at the minor hockey level, you're immediately kicked out of the game - so it shouldn't be considered 'part of the game'. If it were 'part of the game', you wouldn't be kicked out. Is it 'part of the game' when playing beer league hockey? I mean who the f*** signs up for that? We all have to work in the morning. The only time I could buy the argument it should be 'part of the game' is once you're an adult and it's considered professional. Otherwise, the decision to punch someone in the face because you're mad at them should have the same consequences during the sport as it would in the parking lot after the game.
  9. MLB is auctioning off jerseys from the AS Game for Charity. Current bids: FTJ - $2,500 Vladdy - $2,000 Justin Turner - $990 Soto - $910 Judge - $860 Ohtani - $111,000 holy f***.
  10. It's pretty alarming he's had almost no success at the major league level. He tore up the minors with solid K rates, but it's never transferred at the ML level (even though the K rates have always been pretty reasonable). He reminds me a bit of Travis Snider - it's just not happening for him.

  12. This is correct isn't it? You can't just say vaccines don't prevent you from getting COVID because they do. A guy who works for me is still only has his first vaccination. Him and his finance flew out Alberta to help move his sister back and somewhere along the way, she picked up the delta variant. They drove his sisters car home back to Ontario, spending 24 hours together (mostly in a car) for days on end and that one dose prevented him from getting COVID. He lives with her and has been caring for her as she's been in and out of hospital and they test him like weekly and he still doesn't have it. Pretty incredible. The vaccines aren't 100% effective (none are - the flu vaccine is only about 60% effective), but they do wonders. Outbreaks like the Yankees just had are likely to pop up from time to time for the foreseeable future. This is likely something we're going to have to get used to. No different then it will happen in work places and other communities. The most people that get double vaccinated, the fewer outbreaks and the less stress on our health care systems. The evidence is pretty clear.
  13. In the US, the 7 day total # of cases is up 67% from the previous 7 day total. Deaths are up 19% over the same time period also. In Canada, we're down 4% for the # of cases and down 23% in deaths. The world averages are up 15% and up 3% FWIW. I have no f***ing idea what that all means though. I kind of think it's to be expected as everyone is going hog wild now that it feels like life is going back to normal.
  14. Must be working out with Brycen

  16. oh f*** - that was in rookie ball man. We're talking premium A level baseball here son
  17. You mean the 6 SBs that Vlad stole in 71 games in A ball? Orelvis has 2 SBs this year. He must be the equivalent to Kendrys Morales I guess. But yes, I know it's easier to steal in the lower minors and yes I'd forgotten about the rule changes to promote it all. I just doubt anyone thought Veen would be at 4 HRs and 26 SBs in his first season.
  18. I don't know man. The MLB draft, the Home Run Derby and the All-Star Game was a pretty amazing week for me. My 3 boys and I loved every minute of it.
  19. Zac Veen is up to 26 SB's in 56 games. Didn't see that in his game when we were jerking off to his batting practice videos before the draft last year. I think most projected he'd move off CF pretty early as he didn't have great speed. I wonder if that's changed a bit.
  20. No - that's on August 12th and it's the Yankees v. White Sox That should be a special night.
  21. That's because our offense was so good! Jack was like "f*** it" why get people out when I can pitch to the score and give up a f*** ton of runs.
  22. They did last year I believe.
