  1. Pasquantino had 32/116 last year. I'm not sure he can breakout anymore. Caglianone can though. He could be a beast - which is exactly what KC needs.
  2. This guy is suggesting Ohtani had 1 career hit on pitchers 93+ before coming to the MLB. That sounds insane.
  3. It's worth wait for a couple of reasons. 1. Ideally, we'd unload him while cutting some salary. 2. He provides good insurance right now given some minor uncertainties with Bieber (+ all the other ticking time bombs known as the pitching staff). I really don't think it's wise to move him for another "bad contract" on the offensive side.
  4. 100% That time is not now. It's following free agency when a solid starter on a contending team goes down with a major injury and they have limited depth. That's when Berrios becomes more valuable - especially if he's "healthy" again and throwing well.
  5. I agree with this. There's also a possibility that he rehabs (or does whatever he needs to do to get his elbow and bicep healthy again) and shows well in Spring Training. That, coupled with a starter of a contending team going down in the spring could increase his value. He's also a safety valve for this team. There's really no reason at all to dump him right now provided he isn't holding us back from signing Tucker/Bo/etc.
  6. Are people sniffing glue again? SD wants to cut payroll, so they'll trade the superstar closer who's projected to make just $3.3M this year in Arb 1 In exchange, we'll give them Hoffman at $11M and Berrios at $19M + the remaining years on both their deals. C'mon people.
  7. What do you base this opinion on?
  8. Sorry - I wasn't trying to be rude, but the suggestion is so far fetched that I thought it was some on-going joke because you're not the only one who's been suggesting we trade for Mason Miller and then pretends like the Padres will give him away for a couple broken bats. Berrios is dead weight. If you offered him and his contract to every ML team and asked for a hot dog in return - all teams would laugh in your face. The only way you can get rid of him is to pay his salary, or include additional talent. Mason Miller has 4 years of control left and is one of the very best, if not the best RPer in baseball. We'd have to sacrifice a metric f*ckton of talent to land him.
  9. Why do people keep suggesting that we trade a bunch of spare parts for Mason Miller? Is this some new board meme I'm not aware of? Or have people just lost their minds because of how well the offseason has gone so far.
  10. It did? Who was coming off major injury? Varsho was. Who am I missing?
  11. Wow - that's a ton of money for Kim, but I do think there's a good chance he rebounds and is a solid player if he's healthy again.
  12. I just don't see where that market is at age 32. Nobody wanted to sign him long term last offseason either. I guess I could see a 5 year deal. I don't want the Jays involved at that term.
  13. oooof - that's not much less than Bo will get and Bregman is entering his age 32 season. He's a great player, but I'd much rather have Bo on age along. If you could get Bregman for like 3 years $90M - he'd be a good fit. He fits the profile we like (contact skills, good defense).
  14. What's Bregman going to get?
  15. Francys Romero reports that the Phillies are signing Adolis García to a one-year, $10 million contract, pending a physical. It looks like the Phillies have replaced Nick Castellanos before the inevitable trade that will ship him out of town. García, the 2023 ALCS MVP, is coming off back-to-back down seasons, but he has a Gold Glove in his past and 30-home run power, so perhaps moving to Philadelphia could help him recapture some of that magic. It certainly hasn’t helped his cause that Globe Life Field has been about as tough of a ballpark for right-handed hitters as any in the league the last couple of years.
  16. I think the boys are picking on you again. We know this is a sore spot.
  17. It must be difficult to gauge whether a player will be able to adjust or not with any type of confidence...
  18. Based on the contracts handed out to date, I'm not sure I see Tucker getting 11 years or $400M. My gut says Bo won't exceed $200M either. If he does, it's certainly low $200M's I think Tucker is the better player and better fit for the team; however, I do get stuck on the nostalgia of keeping Bo. He's been such a rock for this team for a long time.
  19. I hope this works out. I do like having different angles and stuff, but I have a hard time giving 3 years $39M to a guy who's 35 and throws 82 MPH. Suarez for $6M more seems like better value/upside.
  20. 2 years $23M for a guy with 102 wRC+ and 0.8 WAR projections as a platoon player? AA - you OK bruh?
  21. Yeesh - good for the Polar Bear. But f*ck the O's
  22. Can we get Suarez on a 2 year deal for $17-$18M AAV? I think that would be a good fit.
  23. He has to be happy with the results he had in Detroit and he has a path to save opportunities if he performs and they want to use Vest in the fireman role. This one seemed like a no doubter.
  24. Steven Matz to the Rays - 2 years $15M
