  1. SF is a s***** team in a pitchers park. Not the ideal landing spot for Conforto to rebuild his value. Let's go get him.
  2. Conforto seems like much better value than the old washed up guys being proposed. That or we pony up more and get Eovaldi.
  3. I'd much rather give Conforto $15M for 1 year than Wacha $20M over 2 years. Quintana, Heaney, Manaea, Thor and Anderson all seemed like much better values at $12-13M than Wacha at $10M. I'd rather give Eovaldi $15M AAV.
  4. OK? He isn't someone I want to give 2 years $20M to. Do you Jim? projected xFIP of 4.12 (White's is projected at 4.15)
  5. yes - I'm so smart - ignoring what he did in 2017. How about we make 2019 the cut off, in which case he's only averaged 0.575 WAR per year over the past 4 years. I mean if you can get Wacha for like $3M then f*** - go for it, but crowd source projects him to get 2 years $20M and to that I say f*** THAT.
  6. Wacha and Mitch White were very similar last year and have almost identical projections for 2023. Wacha has averaged 0.62 WAR per season over the past 5 years.
  7. This is true - but he's going to the Angels, so he'll probably be out of baseball within the next 6 months.
  8. I don't know - who's injured in this scenario? Someone is always injured. You can always sit one of Conforto or KK and simply call it a rest day - there can't be an expectation they will play all 162 games. Springer, Gurriel, Kirk, Jansen don't hit lefties significantly better than righties (like Espinal does) so they could also have a rest day....that's if Jansen's even on the team - if not, you could sit 1 of the catchers. I don't see this as an issue myself. The only guy I'm probably trying to get in there v. a LH starter is Espinal and maybe Merrifield. I would probably try to find an excuse to get either Conforto or KK on the bench if I can. LF - Conforto CF/RF - Merrifield RF/CF - Springer 2nd - Espinal C - Kirk/Jansen DH - Kirk/Jansen or Gurriel Next time we face a LH starter, you put KK in there and Conforto sits - assuming everyone is healthy (which is unlikely)
  9. Except I fully expect that Texas believes they are also contenders...SD is no different than us either.
  10. We need to stop citing this. We 100% can guarantee him full time playing time; however, we do have to include the caveat that he has to produce. This is a WS contender and we can't let him hit .180 for 3 months while he works his way back from injury. The Rangers probably can unless they are delusional that they are a playoff team.
  11. Plenty of versatility with Conforto, KK, Springer, Merrifield that allows us to use Gurriel as the 4th OFer, even if he can't play CF (or RF?)
  12. This is exactly what you do - although the stats will show the 4th OFer gets 500+ PA's on average anyway, so it shouldn't be hard for Conforto to see he'll get a full workload in TO this year. Conforto signing would round off a fantastic offseason.
  13. Anyone here have Raptors tickets for sale? I'd like to pick up 2 (or 4) tickets for their game v. the Grizzlies on December 29th.
  14. Kenny is reporting the Jays and Rangers are both interested in Conforto. Grab the lube.
  15. This is exactly how I see it Deadpool. Perhaps others don't see or understand this?
  16. yeah - you'd need to to have a plan to spend that money. If you were trading Jansen and Ryu for Happ and then signing Eovaldi and/or Rogers - I could understand that (although that would be more of a short term move). However, I'd REALLY prefer to add a young/affordable OFer if we are trading a catcher.
  17. There are still lots of good players available via FA - let's not wake them up!
  18. This is more like splurging on a $1000 bottle of wine - and, yes, I think splurging on a $200 bottle of wine is stupid. Difference between doing stupid things and being stupid though.
  19. That's what makes this board so good. And we have GDT's for people like that to vent into the abyss.
  20. Exactly - exactly why it seems odd that you consistently complain about this 'environment' and how awful it is. If you don't like it, play Candy Crush instead.
  21. I know TL posts on Reddit a lot. Is it a significantly better environment than this? I'm baffled that you consistently bitch about this forum. From my perspective, this is a fun, entertaining place where I learn a s*** ton about baseball. I'm a lifelong baseball fan, player, coach, etc. - yet have learned more about the MLB from this board than anywhere else. The only consistent thing I see in here are people ripping people who are very outspoken about outdated views/opinions (like we need to target hitters who get lots of RBI's). I think the mods do a good job at keeping the BS banter to a minimum. You seem like the baseball dad who's always complaining about the coaching staff, expecting perfection - just slings s***.
  22. I'm certainly not a fan of either, but I think I preferred Tabler. Buck says things all the time that are just plain wrong/false and never misses an opportunity to rip 'new age' baseball and tell us about how things used to be better in the good ole days. It's like he's angry with the changes to the game.
  23. It doesn't appear we have much room to add more salary (before we're into luxury cap territory), so I think the Conforto dream is gone. I fully expect the FO wants to add a young, cheap, cost controlled OFer through trade (for one of our catchers), which would push Gurriel to the 4th OF spot.
  24. I'm confused.
