  1. He certainly acts like he's never been wrong in his life. Simply having umps with an ear piece that tells the the correct call is the better way to go IMO. Challenges like his are stupid.
  2. What's Eovaldi going to get? I think he'd be a solid add.
  3. Why would the Angels want Springer? You think they want to move Ohtani and still try to contend? I can't imagine that's the case, but the Angels are kind of nuts, so maybe?
  4. Yeah fair - Phillies won in 2008, so it's not like this couple was waiting 50 years to see their favourite team win together. I still have a soft spot for an old fart like that who's grieving after the death of his wife. This one is a bit more heartfelt. Son listens to Game 7 of the 2016 World Series at his fathers grave because they made a pact as longtime Cubs fans to be together when the Cubs won the World Series. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/17963668/keeping-promise-man-listens-chicago-cubs-win-dad-gravesite
  5. Timmy Trumpet at the dome would be electric. That's the best reason I can come up with.
  6. Matt Moore and Taylor Rogers aren't in the same area code. You can probably get Moore for 1/5th the cost of Rogers.
  7. Jomboy Media (@jomboymedia) • Instagram reel WWW.INSTAGRAM.COM 69K likes, 470 comments - jomboymedia on October 25, 2022: "It’s amazing how much baseball means to this family ❤️". That might convince me to cheer for the Phillies. How can you not be romantic about baseball?
  8. Isn't the obvious issue here that you can't have LOOGY's like we used to? Mayza faced 115 RHB this year (v. only 78 LHB) and RHB hit .291 (.162 v. LHB). Mayza isn't a major issue, but ideally, he'd be pushed down the pecking order a few notches. Adding a Taylor Rogers + the emergence of Pearson as an elite setup guy would give this pen a whole new identity.
  9. That's a very small sample size, while all the underlying stats suggest there's a lot of bad luck involved (14+ K/9, 3.09 xFIP). If that run of blow saves happened in May, you wouldn't be mentioning it. Rogers has been one of the better and most consistent relievers in baseball over the past 5 years.
  10. I agree with Mayza - although it would be ideal if the replacement/upgrade was also left handed. Pop was supposed to be the guy we turn from a nobody into Clay Holmes! Pete was to work his magic on Pop this offseason.
  11. f*** - now I need to send out 2 trophies
  12. Him or Merryweather are bound to do this...
  13. Well - that's fair. Perhaps there won't be. [shrugs]
  14. OK - but that doesn't answer my question
  15. This is spot on. I think we see some movement in the pen his offseason.
  16. I get more action in a week than you've had your entire life. I've got houses in LA, Paris and Vail. Oh, each one of them with a 70 inch plasma screen. So, I suggest you wipe that stupid smile off your face before I come over there and smack if off. You feeling strong my friend? Call me elf one more time!!!
  17. Teo hit 2 home runs in Game 2. He didn't cough up anything. Pay that man for his efforts
  18. That's fair - my point is most people who still joke and rip the Astros don't realize or acknowledge this - nor do they acknowledge that every team in the league had pitchers who were cheating and I think that's wrong. It's like how my 6 year old knows that Barry Bonds cheated and I have to explain to him that while that's true - in all likelihood, half the pitchers he was facing were also cheating. Adults should be smarter than my 6 year old.
  19. I never said it was to the same extent. But obviously the Red Sox were also stealing signs and every team in the league was using sticky stuff to help their pitchers. Cheating is cheating - I'm not sure I have enough evidence to rank them or clearly decide that the Astros cheated more than everyone else by a significant amount. Are you certain that banging trash cans was more effective than the sticky stuff? Do you know whether some teams developed 'better' sticky stuff than other teams? Were there teams using spider tack for a year or 2 before the rest of the league caught up (from using sunscreen and rosin)? How are you so certain teams weren't cheating to the same extent as the Astros? Maybe other teams just didn't get caught. If someone wants to say "f*** those Astros, they cheated more than the other teams, who were also cheating, but not to the same extent" - then I'd probably be OK with that (although I think that's a grey area still)...but that's typically not what I've seen or heard. People act like the Astros were the only ones cheating, which is wrong and ignorant.
  20. Why are you taking a jab at me. Ever think that perhaps you could have written it more clearly? I appreciate that some are very proud of their homeland and culture and that's why they would be upset to be accidently be called a Mexican, when they are in fact Cuban. To be fair - I've never felt an overwhelming sense of pride for my own country, the University I went to, the Town I grew up in, or the Town I live in. I've never felt they were vastly superior to others or something to be extremely proud of. I struggle to understand the mindset of those who do.
  21. I just don't think it's fair to joke, laugh or rip the Astros without acknowledging that several teams have (are?) also cheating. As the youth would say, it makes you look like a simp.
