  1. So he's worse than Thornton and Merryweather? Fire Atkins! /s - but this doesn't pass the smell test. What's the Stuff + numbers on him? Isn't it Laika that posts that s***? I'd love to know what website he gets it from (I just googled it and couldn't find it)
  2. This is fair, but the Cards are also firmly in a winning window and have a massive hole at catcher (while also still having Carlson, O'Neill, Donovan and Yepez who play OF). You could certainly see them trading from a position of strength to fill that hole - especially if they think Nootbar is a flash in the pan - or if they think they could just extend Jansen before he breaks out. It will be interesting to see if the Cards get in on the Contreras sweepstakes, or go with a cheep defensive catcher like Maldonado.
  3. Yes they were. 125 wRC+ and 2.7 WAR in only 347 PA's is REALLY good. I have no f***ing idea if he can repeat this. The minor league numbers definitely scare me, but his Savant page certainly gives hope that he's figured something out and is ready to be a stud. Will the league adjust? will he adjust back? Who knows. I'd give up Jansen to find out. I wouldn't give up Kirk to find out. The flip side is Dylan Carlson. He has a great pedigree, but the results haven't been there in the majors and his Savant page suggest he still needs to figure it out. I'll be watching with interest to see who carves out a better career. Jansen for Tyler O'Neill is another interesting fit. He reminds me a lot of Teo - although he already has a massive season under his belt (2021).
  4. Sounds great - until you factor in that you have to pay players money. Enjoy Teo though - he's an easy guy to root for. His smile is infectious, but his defense (and sometime his base running) can been infuriating. His profile suggests he'll probably fall off in his early 30's to be careful signing him long term. We weren't going to, so we get controllable assets and $$$ to spend on FA's, while you get him for 1 more year unless you want to give him a QO. Lots of low leverage guys work their way up into high leverage situations. Swanson's Savant page is really sexy and we need arms that miss bats. With 3 years of control and making peanuts - he's a good fit for us and we get a lottery ticket in Macko who was highly sought after.
  5. Carroll is a budding superstar. Arizona isn't trading him unless we're including guys like Vlad or Bo.
  6. Didn't take Morosi long to start throwing this against the wall.
  7. Guys - let's stop pretending that we're going to land Corbin Carroll in a trade. Dave Stewart is no longer the GM.
  8. Arizona.
  9. They should go look at his Savant page...
  10. 100% man.
  11. I'm firmly with Jonn on this one.
  12. He looks like he'd be an ideal/elite 4th OFer on a contending team.
  13. Maybe you should change your name to Rays24? You seem to hate everything.
  14. You realize you no longer get a 1st round comp pick if someone signs the guy you offered a QO to right?
  15. Nimmo is a level above Fowler, but I see the comparison. Fowler was good until his age 32 season - so just sign Nimmo to a 2 year $40M deal - problem solved!
  16. Benintendi blows. Aim higher.
  17. The f***? The Jays were 2nd in the AL and 4th in all of MLB in runs last year.
  18. What the f*** are you talking about? All teams suffer when they get stuck with s***** long term risky deals. Give the price of top relivers, I MUCH prefer the Jays identifying someone they think can be a stud out of the bullpen who has good control and doesn't cost $10-$12M per year.....especially when it appears the market for corner OFers won't be nearly as hot (because it rarely, if ever is). This is a much better use of resources - even if relivers are volatile.
  19. Would you f***ing relax. The bullpen needed to be better and it is now with someone who has 3 full years of control still. Let the FO complete the offseason before you freak out. If we go out and sign Conforto to a 1 year $15M deal then he completely replaces what Teo gave us - AND we have Swanson as our new setup guy. Have you seen what relief pitchers are signing for as FA's this year? My scenario above is a f***TON better than handing out 3 or 4 year deals worth $30M-$45M for a top end reliver and keeping Teo.
  20. I'm really going to miss Teo. It's been amazing to see his journey. He came over (for nothing) as this really talented, athletic OFer who hadn't put it all together. He struggled for a few years, while showing potential and then finally it all clicked and he became a f***ing beast with the bat. His defense always left something to be desired though as it 'seemed' like he wasn't always giving max effort. Unfortunately your swing and miss profile likely won't age well and it's unlikely the Jays were ever going to extend you. I'm going to miss that infectious smile though. All the best to you Teo.
  21. I love me some Nimmo, but I really worry the required term will put him in the same boat Springer is. You get a year or 2 of him playing CF and then you're looking to move him to LF or RF.
  22. Big time K rates the past 2 years....albeit with big time walk rates also...
  23. It could also just mean they are going to sign Conforto to a 1 year deal....or that Merrifield is going to play a lot of OF this year.... Or it could mean they are moving Moreno for Carroll or for Thomas + young stud SP prospect.
  24. Swanson's Savant page has a lot of sexy red on it. 3 years of control. If he isn't a flash in the pan, this has good potential.
  25. That probably makes sense. Most catchers don't hit the road running and kill it in Year 1 like Rutschman just did. It was a calculated risk that failed (good for Jays, bad for O's)
