  1. Easy to say in hindsight. Wheeler for the 3rd time or the best reliver in baseball since August (SSS, but obviously he's as dominant as anyone when he's right). Suggesting Wheeler is the obvious choice in that situation is ridiculous.
  2. Bills lose to the Jets? WTF? It's over for Green Bay - what a beautiful run it's been. It appears they ought to have traded Rodgers this past offseason for a haul.

I think the NHL came out and said he'd never be allowed to play in the NHL.
  4. How good is Nootbar going to be? His minor league numbers don't suggest he's a future star, but his statcast #'s were really good last year. Lots of red. Gorman? Pass.
  5. Surprised there wasn't more discussion on this in here. All the old skoo guys were losing their minds, but the reality is that Alvarado was simply the best reliver in baseball since August 1st. The Phillies season was on the line. I don't give a f*** if the batter was a righty or a lefty - I want my very best arm on the mound. Unfortunately for Thompson - it didn't work out last night v. an incredible hitter. That's baseball.
  6. Rough season for Castellanos. Horrible post season. He literally did jack s*** with the bat.
  7. Could we get Hunter Brown for him?

There are a f***ton more scrums in hockey than in any other sport - most (all?) are pointless and stupid. I don't disagree about altercations and having your friends back. I didn't realize the Leafs players were outnumbered - I agree Matthews should have at least grabbed a guy and stood there pretending like he was going to do something (like what happens in most scrums). I may have over reached on this one. Good call.

I'm not so sure I agree with this. Yes, I once did love that aspect of the game and if there wasn't a fight or two in the game I was watching (whether it was the NHL or the OHL) then I was disappointed, but I do really enjoy the actual skill that's in the game now, the speed in f***ing incredible and I've grown to appreciate the removal of goons/enforcers and fighting in general. I'd be OK with a few more hits, but given how fast they are going out there, I can see why it's not a big thing anymore. As a father with kids in hockey - I'm really happy the game has moved away from what it as in the 90's. Back when I played, people would go out on the ice with the sole purpose of trying to hurt other players and I think that's just generally BS. I think it's progressed in a positive manner.
  10. That would be an ideal fit IMO. Not sure Houston would bite, but they are in their 'win now' window, so maybe?
  11. Does Dusty not have a pinch hitter on the bench? Why is Maldonado batting here?
  12. Philly fans booing Gurriel for being shaken up on the rundown. Classic ****s.
  13. This is an interesting thought. If you could add in Carlson somehow, you'd have a chance for another Alomar/Carter for McGriff/Fernandez deal (although they were all more established). Moreno + who for Walker and Carlson?

I personally still hate this mentality in hockey. How many times a game do people all have to grab each other, push each other around and yell and chip one another? It's so childish. So much toxic masculinity. It's a hockey game - not a war boys. Why is it part of hockey and not football - when in football, you literally hit each other and try to tackle them on every play.
  15. How good is Jeremy Pena going to be? He's been incredible on both sides of the ball this post season. Is this just a hot/lucky streak or is this guy going to become a generational player? Anyone want to throw out some comparisons?

I don't follow hockey much - but I don't understand this. Don't Boomers miss the good old days when teams had a couple of goons (who couldn't skate or play hockey) who would always stand up for their top players? Isn't there a large group of people who think hockey is too soft and s*** now and that players should police the game themselves? Don't they want that random Philly guy (and everyone else in the league) know you better not f*** with Matthews or they'll f*** you up? Did Wayne never get pissed off at someone and slash them a few times and then sit back while Semenko filled them? Or are you happy with the way hockey is played now (like I am) and would rather Matthews be left fighting his own fight if he wants to cross check and slash a player because he can't control his emotions? I love that fighting is essentially gone from hockey now. I think Bunting and Gio should have stayed out of it. People lose their temper like that in sports all the time without throwing punches.

Is Mike Rupp the guy in this photo? https://imgur.com/gallery/n8mrhzD
  18. I'm just saying it's crazy that Houston has 4 starters who they think are better than Garcia. Garcia isn't far off 'good' Berrios.
  19. Imagine having the depth to have Luis Garcia in your bullpen in the World Series and Urquidy off your roster for the ALCS. Insane stuff.
  20. Yeah that Bregman at bat was huge. I think we forget how hard it is to square up 101 sometimes.
  21. Those 400 PA's likely add enough WAR to push him over 60 for his career. He's a borderline HOFer.
  22. Jomboy suggesting there's no real evidence that McCullers was tipping pitches last night. Says he thinks Harper was just telling teammates that he isn't sharp and to f***ing crush him.

Very slow start and it's still a SSS, but his production is almost half of what it was last year.
