I know this is just a joke, but the reality is that top flight pitchers do develop out of thin air from time to time. A tweak in pitch sequencing/tunneling, pitch type/shape, etc. can have drastic results.
The Top 30 WAR leaders this year include guys like Cole Ragans, Cristopher Sanchez, Seth Lugo, Nestor Cortes and Joe Ryan. None of these guys were ever highly touted and some of them bounced around between the pen, the rotation (the back of the rotation) and AAA until they found the right mix. Gausman was another example (although he did have the pedigree). It does happen and for f*** sakes do the Jays need something like this to develop right now.
