  1. Report: Blue Jays make offer to Santander https://thescore.com/mlb/news/3178909
  2. I like this idea + Moncada at 3rd, if they have the money to do this + a couple BP arms and a depth starter like Lance Lynn. That seems like a ton of moves that need to fall into place. Ugggh
  3. I think everyone understands that. It's just there are scenarios where he'll be worth as much, or possibly more (slimmer chance, but could happen) at the deadline. That does allow the Jays to defer that decision and play out the 1st half of the season and see what happens. If Rogers wants butts in seats, this may ultimately be what happens. As you note, there are obvious risks in that approach - and Atkins hands could be somewhat tied. It would be interesting to know just "how much more" teams would give us right now v. at the deadline - assuming he has another strong season. Is it 10% more value? 25%? 50%?

Thanks for pointing this out - I spent a lot of time yesterday looking at who was left off this team and it seems mind boggling. In addition to the names already noted, how do they leave Beckett Sennecke off the roster? 3rd overall pick in the draft last year? Get Dave Cameron away from this program.
  5. Shouldn't this be moved into one of the several threads about Tony Salamander?
  6. He's just saying it would be the ideal situation for the Jays to get "the most" in return for Vlad.
  7. It is, but there are like 4-5 main threads that everyone looks at (I assume). Around Baseball and the MiLB/Prospect threads are in that group. If we want to keep GDT's and stuff like that separate, I get it, but to check the main threads, it's a lot more clicking now. That said - love the new site and I'm sure this is just most of us getting used to a new system.
  8. To be fair, the uniforms have essentially been the same from 2012 to now and use the "2019-Present" logo. I'm not sure why this illustration suggests a difference between 2012-2019 and 2019-Present. The Jays still use the 2012-2019 logo - it was on the front of the Springer hockey jersey's last year. Either way - the revamp in 2012 was amazing and much needed. I think the Jays rock some of the best threads in MLB. Everything we did from 1997-2011 was horrendous.

Interesting little video about Scott and the changes he made with Tread Athletics to harness his "stuff" and become elite.
  10. Early candidate for POTY. This is so true. Those last 2 pictures make my eyes bleed.
  11. Agreed - I'm not a huge fan of having to click out of "Toronto Blue Jays Talk" and into "Other Baseball" or "Blue Jays Minor League Talk" to get to the Around Baseball or Official MiLB/Prospect threads. At least I'm not used to it at all yet.
  12. I must admit - I never knew Danny Ainge played baseball at all, let alone for the Blue Jays. This really shows how much baseball has changed. I know the Jays were still a s***** expansion team at the time, but they sent a 2 sport athlete, drafted out of high school, directly to AAA, where he was terrible - and then called him up and gave him 331 PA's at the age of 20 (where he produced a 45 wRC+ and -0.7 WAR). Unreal.
  13. I hear what you're saying. He could choose to improve his english to the point that he's comfortable enough to use it during an interview. That probably would endear him with more fans. But as was pointed out, there's a good chance he's been told not to do that - not to risk it. At the end of the day - player interviews are stupid anyway.
  14. I'd certainly be happy with 3 years of Parades (3.85 WAR/yr in his first 2 full seasons) and the 14th overall pick in last years draft (73rd overall prospect) + an arm for Vlad. Seems similar to what SD got for Soto last year. It would give the Jays an opportunity to retool quicker than a full teardown/rebuild.
  15. Don't be a d*ck please. Perhaps I should have re-phrased it to ask "how much more" do you get by trading him now v. at the deadline. The difference may be less than you think under certain circumstances.
  16. I'm not convinced there are more "suitors" now. That could change by the deadline due to injuries and such. You could also have teams that wouldn't currently consider him, change their minds if they are "one piece away" at the deadline. #2 and #3 are fair - especially the point that they could trade him at the deadline if their season doesn't go the way they'd hoped. That's a strong point. You could very well be right though - 85% chance you "get more now".
  17. Vientos is awful defensively at 3rd though...it seems like a good fit to let Alonso go and move him to 1st...
  18. He was projected for 3 years $36M on Fangraphs. I have to think Hoffman and Scott sign for "about that". Unfortunately, I'm not sure we have the budget left to sign someone like that. I do wonder what 1 year of Ryan Helsley would cost via trade.
  19. Do we know how true this is? I think we've certainly seen the value of players change as the season progresses due to injuries/needs. If there's a rash of closers hurt, you can get more for him at the deadline than you may have at the start of the season. That may not apply to someone at the level of Vlad, but if Vlad is in the midst of a massive season, I could certainly see a bidding war at the deadline. Sometime when teams can "taste it" they're more inclined to pay the price. Interesting topic to discuss.
  20. That's likely to be a career year for him. He's a 1 trick pony. Teo at 3 yrs $66M is a pretty good comp
  21. Most "think" that as well (me included), but there are some concerning red flags surrounding his recent results, ability to stay healthy and his ability to maintain production as he ages... Can I ask - are you new to the board? (if so, welcome!) or did you name change with the move to the new site?
  22. I don't see any situation where Bo signs an extension right now - unless we offer "stupid" money. He'll play out this year and hit the FA market next offseason. Lots of speculation that he wants to move on too. To be honest, he's been downright awful since his injury in August 2023 and there's still some uncertainty about what he'll be this year - and in the future (as much as we all want to pencil in another 4 WAR season for him).
  23. At least Vlad was awesome last year - so his trade value is as high as possible. If he'd flipped his production in 2023 and 2024, we'd be in a very difficult situation - similar to what we have with Bo right now where you almost have to keep him to let him re-build his value this season before you trade him.
