  1. That was what I thought too, it should help our good defense shut other teams down and then it becomes a power match which I will take us over anyone else to win.
  2. I will deal with it if it includes these plays. http://31.media.tumblr.com/56c9252387b823cd7ecdc5e7a85968e5/tumblr_nmprrglwzI1r37slco2_r1_500.gif
  3. Day game after a night game with overnight travel on the back of 3 straight starts for Martin...
  4. We tend to discuss pro baseball players only.
  5. I can't see how any business entity is allowed to sign and provide education for children as young as 12 while teams would wish to educate communally that they would then later have to compete over for service. Imagine being the one team who invests the money time and effort to developing these kids for all those years to have a team like the Yankee's come in and poach all that talent from under you. Realistically it has to be outlawed in those countries for kids to be pulled from school for stuff like this and force them to have to complete highschool to play pro ball (there is something MLB can do). Although I suspect that in many cases they would just forge those credentials.
  6. Its sad and very much a problem but its not just up to MLB to solve an entire regions social issues. There is no realistic way of convincing a business of investing in something they might not be able to see much of a return in unless they partner with local governments and established players to work together to pool resources to enact structural and legal changes. MLB can pay some bills but they can't outlaw exploitation in 3rd world countries.
  7. I would keep them down until June simply to avoid having a bunch of Super 2 guys in a couple years.
  8. Realistically who could we flip within reason to get both? It would tremendously add significant depth to the pen and allow us to put Castro and Osuna back in the minors where they belong...
  9. Does everyone not remember how many on here were dying to get Santana at the expense of Hutchison or Happ. How did that work out for us? In the end we will be fine when Norris and the other kids come knocking.
  10. why not?
  11. So instead we overpay for the crap ones.
  12. So its looking like the plan is to roll the dice with a bunch of guys for the first few months and then bring up the likes of Norris, Osuna and Castro for the pen in June to start their clocks while giving us a massive boost in the pen.
  13. If I had a mug like that I would be doing coke too.
  14. Often those 2 activities are linked Damn you Kingkat! Beat me by seconds.
  15. Mike Wilner ‏@Wilnerness590 4m4 minutes ago Hearing that #Bluejays are likely to announce Belisario signing today. Expect it to be a minor-league deal. #Jays #QuantumLeap
  16. I hope they file tampering charges and it gets into a messy legal bout where in the end we have to only pay a fine. Then it would string along idiot Orioles fans who think judges will order a team to trade players as compensation for the tampering while causing dysfunction in the Orioles front office by forcing DD to stay against his will.
  17. I can't wait for this to end just to see how crazy the Baltimore media and fan base will get when they are let down from their lofty expectations of receiving half a major league team + all assets from the farm of their choosing for an asset that doesn't play the game.
  18. Strassburg will not be worth the price it costs to acquire him for us. Plus his arm is on borrowed time.
  19. He's not really earning less though. He wold get more money just spread out over a longer period of time. Do you guys think he would take 7 years for 170 million or 210 spread over 14 years while still being a free agent in the same period of time? All this does is let the Nats tie up 15 million a year for 7 years after he's gone which will hurt their financial flexibility then.
  20. But if you can do say a Trout deal with half deferred. You can sign another big deal on top of it allowing players to double dip on it. Look at governments to see the potential to abuse the future financial picture to borrow for gain now.
  21. Because then agents will demand it from teams so teams on small budgets will be eliminated from the practice and allow the bigger market teams to load up on future salary while taking the small guys even further out of the equation. Hell, they won't even be able to acquire players already signed by others due to the uber long term commitment years beyond the time they will ever play.
  22. Nasty precedent to start. I expect them to close this down in the next CBA before it gets out of control with everyone in the league earning money beyond their play time.
