    Collectively they will probably both perform roughly the same with Saunders>Melky but Happ>Estrada, the key here is we are getting that production from $8 million while Happ and Melky cost ~$21 million.

    The bigger ballpark will take number on his offensive numbers, he squeaked many HR's and ground rule doubles in Rogers Centre last year and in Chicago those are outs or maybe just singles off the wall because of his speed. Add in the much bigger negative impact playing in a larger LF will have and he will probably regress back to just a 1ish WAR player.

    No, I am saying that Loup is better then a LOOGY and with Cecil slated to be an 8th or 9th inning guy we would still need someone to come into Jams on the way to Cecil to strikeout the Ortiz' of the world.

    I think we still need a LOOGY for late inning match ups because I don't really view Loup as a traditional "lefty" in that he will come out to face one guy, he can get both lefties and rights out and can handle a full inning but lacks the stuff to shutdown a game in the late innings so would slide in as a mid relief. One really good "stuff" righty for the 8th or 9th inning would really give the pen to go with Cecil *cough Clippard*. Then we can survive with a mix of guys from the farm and guys like Jenkins for mid relief where hopefully 1-2 of the young guys can establish themselves enough that we can let the free agent Clippard's of the world go and just bump everyone else up a spot next year.

    I just love the fact that we could retain most of Goins defense without the Goins bat. Hell, even if he is only a 1 WAR bench player who can play all infield positions its a big upgrade for us. Sure beats throwing out negative value solutions on the field.

    I don't see what there is to be mad about if true. There is upside in Toritani if he can even post a .700 OPS with a high OBP mark with his good defense and flexibility.

    Hey now, no one ever said they wouldn't do these 6 or 7/10 girls. In the end, once the clothes come off every girl gets a +3 to their rating.

    From what I was reading, he plays good defense too and has played some 3B as well. So worst case scenario he can be a Goins like player with the defense and versatility with the added bonus of being able to draw good long AB's, even if he still can't hit major league pitching.

    The good news for us is that with Martin, Donaldson and even Saunders onboard to go with Bautista and EE. We can now just patiently wait out walks against guys like Masterson and win by default that way rather then rely on the HR's.
