  1. I thought with Prior it was the injury suffered from running the bases that effected his mechanics and eventually caused him to wear down. Yay NL for making pitchers hit...
  2. Any good player is a big deal regardless where it is. However a 3 WAR player who pitches 60-70 IP is not as common as one who pitches 180+ a season so getting that "big deal" closer is pretty much a pipe dream.
  3. How so? They don't lose their pick for signing him, Robertsons velocity declined last year and they will get an extra 1st round comp pick when he signs elsewhere. Seems smart to me, as smart as a 80 win team spending $9 million on a closer can be.
  4. Melky in that giant LF spot...?
  5. We did the same thing before hiring Farrell.
  6. It would sure be nice if he regained his velocity and we have ourselves another Nolin type on our hands. How else can we acquire Sonny Gray next year?
  7. But on the flip side with no pitching, terrible defense and an aging offense they likely won't have many late leads to worry about coming back from anyways.
  8. I think Robertson's value just plummeted. Who is going to pay up for a reliever with a draft pick attached to him? If we could get him as low as say 3 years @$20-25 million I would do it
  9. Good thing an 80 win team just paid big money to help convert those 30 saves...
  10. I wonder if AA might think of approaching KC for Greg Holland since he is slated to earn so much in Arb. Would give us a Andrew Miller on a 1 year commitment to shore up the pen.
  11. Other teams had Jose Bautista and let him go for nothing, Nelson Cruz, Encarnacion too. Teams will let players go all the time who get their s*** together elsewhere, it doesn't mean anything now that we let him go then.
  12. Don't forget too that hes played in mostly hitter parks in the NL Central and his OBP is .100 points higher than his average. Would be a perfect offensive fit from the bottom of the lineup to grind out walks to setup the top of the lineup.
  13. The biggest thing about the Jays system is. We are so top heavy in big time pitching prospects that everyone ignores the glut of prospects who should be solid bench/pen guys that other systems would be lauded for producing.
  14. Nolin and Graveman are replaceable and Osuna doesn't have the top end upside that others have anyways, what would be the hesitation in holding onto him if you were presented the opportunity to upgrade 2B for the next 2 years?
  15. Valbuena is more proven defensively at 2B and is coming off a stronger offensive season not to mention the fact your looking at a $4 million player in Valbuena. Literally the only thing Lowrie saves you is a prospect which is one thing we are teaming with. Besides the extra money saved in acquiring Valbuena can go to the rotation/bullpen. Edit: Lets see anyone else get 3 Valbuena's to lineup on the left hand side unintentionally!
  16. You find me a rotation with 5 deep in #3 starters and I will show you a rotation that will be pitching in the playoffs on a consistent basis.
  17. I would do it. Osuna is coming off TJ and has dominated on command not stuff (Nestor Molina anybody?). Valbuena is a 2-3 WAR player who is controllable for 2 years and can slide over to 3B if the need arises. If we are going for it, why not make a deep 1-9 lineup that are all around for at least 2 more years while retaining the more MLB ready guys like Norris, Sanchez and Castro? We only need 5 rotation spots anyways not 15 lol. I understand everyone's desire to hoard prospects, but you got to be realistic and accept that you have to let some go since we are so pitching heavy in the system and have needs to fill other than on the mound but all in all this is a nice problem to have.
  18. Prepare for Didi being overhyped now that he is in NY.
  19. He fell into the black hole with Ozzie Smith http://i.imgur.com/6Nf3qvc.gif
  20. I might be in the minority, but I liked when Devlin filled in for a few games.
  21. Its funny how Jays prospects always jump the highest on the prospect charts after they get moved to another market.
  22. Anyone of these starters converted to the pen could make excellent relievers. Gavin Floyd Franklin Morales Joe Saunders Kevin Slowey Edinson Volquez
  23. Prior to trading Happ and non tendering free agents, Davidi reported we had between 10-12 million to re-sign Melky. Since then we have, reduced by $3.9 million in trading Happ for Saunders and non tendered 6.2 million reducing the commitment by 10.1 million. Since we are now at 125.7 million and have lowered the threshold by 10.1 we would have been at 135.8 million when Davidi said we had 10-12 to spend which would mean the total budget should fall between $145-147 million giving us a total of 20-22 million to spend atm which could increase by another $5 million by dealing Navarro.
  24. Good. Keep breaking up that Latino clique.
