  1. I am quote sure the Rays don't rely on prospect rankings when they make decisions on value. Just because baseball America or Sickles likes a player doesn't mean they too will like a player at the same value.
  2. I get the feeling Boras punishes teams who don't cave into his douchiness by stringing them alone with no real intention to ever sign barring massive overpayment and rewards ones who do with things like the Drew signing.
  3. Its obviously because Zaun is smearing his name around baseball.
  4. I would rather be patient and wait for waiver claims likely to come after spring training rather then have him pull a "Dickey" trade at this point and get ripped off to fill a hole that will provide only 1-2 WAR value.
  5. He hasn't fully matured into his body yet. He needs to start the year in the minors and hopefully he has bulked up a bit in the offseason.
  6. Would anyone here part with Norris + if it was for Zobrist with a 2-3 year extension attached?
  7. Its more so that I would rather not break the bank for a 34 year old player on an expiring contract with little long term upside (hence not blowing my wad to acquire him). If we are dealing Sanchez +, then I want a more permanent solution.
  8. Osuna and not much more.
  9. I am not saying we can trade him, only why most want to.
  10. Because hes offense is declining and hes terrible defensively and the longer we have him the harder it is to move him with $66 million still owed on the back end.
  11. Don't forget that Sanchez is also still trying to repeat brand new mechanics. Its very difficult to make an adjustment and have it turn you overnight into a perfect pitcher. I am willing to bet that he has a better swing and miss numbers than Buerhle by years end.
  12. Only 11% of Sanchez' pitches thrown last year was a non fastball, which he got 26% of his strikeouts with. I know its fashionable to crap all over Sanchez because we ignore the fact that he made qualitative changes to his game last year that doesn't have thousands of PA's of sample size for you all to drool over yet, but his game plan out of the pen last year was to just pound the strike zone with fastballs and induce weak contact off his superb fastball.
  13. Did he not mention the Donaldson trade before it broke? At least that we were on the verge of completing a deal part?
  14. I don't like how much his numbers fluctuate year to year.
  15. Does he have to stay on the major league roster or be exposed to waivers again? If that is the case, we could put him in the pen and then stretch him out later.
  16. So maybe he can dial it up to 92-94 from the pen?
  17. It seems that we are learning there is value to 0 WAR players by virtue of not being negative value.
  18. Anyone have an idea on his velocity, maybe he can be converted into a reliever? Stuff seems to be there.
  19. If I was AA I might put in an claim for Gomes.
  20. At this point I will accept back a mid reliever with a similar $5 million contract value on an expiring deal that is an average player simply to fill one hole.

  22. Socialism will always fail because Humans are unable to collectively put the goodwill of the society above their own desires. The root idea in socialism is envy, the group as a whole will always envy that which others have, the problem is you can only expropriate material things where as other stuff like beauty, intelligence and athletic ability can not be taken away and still cause a point of envy among those who do not have it. Humans are also lazy animals and we try our best to do things as easily possible and why we continue to improve on things we already can do to make them even easier (this is not a flaw). The problem with that is, if you give 100 people the choice to sit on their ass and do nothing while getting an equal share of the reward or work their ass off to feed and provide for the ones who won’t work you will likely see a 9:1 ratio of people who will do nothing which is what causes the system to fail.
  23. Ah my bad, I misread on my phone at work.
