    You know what hurts? "Fans" who don't seem to think or realize that sometimes (well, most times) you have to give up value to get value, especially if you want established veterans. Would you rather GM_AA never make a f***ing trade? Jesus Christ. He's the guy that got rid of Vernon Wells AND picked up an all star 3B from BB.

    Yeah, this pretty much sums up how I feel. I really thought a Shields signing would help us out with the loss of MB next year, but oh well. There is a ton of talent to draw from next year. I may consider signing someone like Soriano to a 2-year $8M deal to help the bullpen out, but it's not essential. I think Travis has a chance to join the team in June and do well, filling our hole at 2B. I guess they only issue is the overall uncertainty. Expecting both Pompey and Travis, two rookies, to lead a team to a WS seems a little crazy. I'm not sure a team with two position rookies has ever gone to the WS.

    I don`t find it surprising. He`s likely 14, and a newer fan. Spelling may not be his strong suit. In terms of responses, I think a lot of the posters and lurkers here would rather not post in an old 45-page thread that features mostly 5 posters throwing around inside jokes that no one outside the circle really gets. So, keep em`coming.

    Oh buddy, that couldn't have been more sarcastic. But it made me think of Sanchez. He's awesome. Maybe he'd be a good closer. But maybe it'd be more like Kershaw closing. Maybe Estrada should close and Sanchez start in the 5 slot

    People just aren't buying Cecil as a closer. I know you and others keep flogging him, looking at his stats, but many are unconvinced.

    MB won't regress, since he's a finess pitcher anyway. Plus Martin will help him I am sure, and every pitcher. And he's playing for his next contract. So 3 is possible. But like you I'm predicting closer to 2.

    San Diego is one team also, to me anyway, that stands out as undervalued in that table. I mean, Christ, they've added a ton of talent. Most coming off a bad year I suppose, which prolly undervalues players like Kemp and Myers who could break out a bit.

    Okay, I may be jumping the gun here, but if we do make a trade with Detroit, then what do we do? Does that mean Smoak is set at 1B and EE at DH? I still don't think Smoak will cut it. It might be pretty good to have Reyes DH ~ 20 games throughout the year to keep him fresher, and it would improve our defense with whomever replaces him. This is where it would still be good to have Lind. I wonder is A-Rod can still hit. Could be the perfect DH. Yanks may trade him to us for nothing, and eat 99% of his contract.

    Exactly right. I like our outfield depth. I'd almost rather have Pillar/Dirks than Davis. But Davis would be excellent in that role on this roster.
