  1. Liriano > Anderson, but I think Anderson is way more likely to take a MiLB deal, which would be awesome.
  2. If Alford stays healthy and hits like he can in Buffalo, I think he is up by June to stay. Pearce or Granderson will be traded (or more likelier, on the DL) by then to make room. Toescar will have to have a stellar ST and 1-2 months in AAA to be called up. Or, an injury.
  3. I love this deal. He may be the best #5 in the AL. I think this means Biagini is not stretched our during ST, but instead moves right to the 'pen, where Gibby really wants him. This is a big win/win.
  4. If we sign a Cobb or Lynn, then we also solidify our bullpen by (presumably) adding Biagini.
  5. If we can get Cobb for two years, then wow. What a coup. But he would need a pretty high AAV to sign a 2-year. But then again, in the climate right now, who the heck knows.
  6. I am more than fine with him not signing with the Jays. I don't really want him on the roster. But I would be okay with him on a minor league deal.
  7. I would be okay with signing Lackey if he signs a MiLB deal with the chance to compete for the #5.
  8. I think Lackey is a bit of curmudgeon and won't sign with the Blue Jays regardless. I don't think his ERA will be around 4. In the AL, around 5 maybe. I would rather sign Dickey than Lackey. Dickey gives you all of what Lackey gives, plus he's not a dick.
  9. That's a little extreme. If he is signed to a MiLB contract it would be solid depth.
  10. I would rather give one of our AAA starters a shot than Lackey. Why place hold when you can either get a young guy going, or sign a decent 30-year old vet (Lynn) to a longer term deal to help brace for the impact of losing Happ, Estrada or both. But having said that, Lackey > Colon.
  11. It's not that I don't think he's good. I'm an arm chair GM and know less than the baseball people who make the lists, but I think Pearson and Alford and better bets to have a better career. I also think we have some great middle infielders in our system to make Bichette more expendable than others do. I also think Bichette's swing is a little messy. When I say trade him for a guy like Santana, I am not saying trade him for a warm body. Santana would be our best outfielder (if he is kept in LF) if he was traded for, is controllable for a long time, and is a 30/100 guy. But hey, that trade won't happen, and we'll have to see what happens to both players through their careers.
  12. Pearce seems to mash both pitching equally. Okay that platoon makes more sense now.
  13. Pearce mashes righties, and Granderson also hits righties better than lefties. That seems like a less than optimal platoon. Am I missing something?
  14. I am hoping with the slow off season we get him for a relative steal. And he's still young at 30. If he passes his physically and the AAV < $15M than I make that signing. And I keep thinking it's addition by addition, if that's a thing. Ensuring Biagini solidifies the relief pitching situation. We wouldn't necessarily have to sign anyone else.
  15. I hope so. And Morales while we're there. #wishfulthinking
  16. Probably. I am not high on him so I am always looking to unload him for good, MLB-ready talent that is under control for years. I'd rather part with Bichette than Pearson or Alford.
  17. I think Lance Lynn would be a great pickup. This throws (in theory) Biagini to the 'pen where he has excelled. It's a 2-for-1. I am okay with Maile, or maybe Reese, as the backup catcher.
  18. I think you're serious if your all caps are any indication. So, are you saying you wouldn't trade for him? Are you saying you don't think he makes our outfield better? Are you saying your keyboard is broken? Bichette would not have gotten either Yelich or Ozuna, btw.
  19. No, I am just throwing things out there. I think they would want pitching. Like everyone. But they may want the best prospect available. Like everyone, too. Not necessarily to play now, but for later or to flip. Sometimes teams get the best players to flip them for another need.

  21. Brett Philips; that 45 potential and 0.0 WAR prediction has my heart aflutter.
  22. 30/100 guys under control a while aren't commonly available. But sure, Bichette is overkill probably. But who goes for him then? I am not very high on Bichette and I think my bias got the best of my with that post. But they would want something. And no Pillar is not who they want. They may want an Alford. I would rather give up Bichette than Alford. Feel free to post "I am a dick" and I will write you down as a downvote, too.
