  1. Jose Bautista is only hitting 0.091 in AAA - http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?t=g_box&gid=2016_07_24_gwiaaa_bufaaa_1&sid=milb . However, it is only 3 games so it does not mean very much, but still I thought that he would be knocking the cover off the baseball down in AAA.
  2. OK. So he won't be a free agent until the end of 2017. That is good for the Blue Jays.
  3. Based on the stats that I posted, Sanchez has the same WAR in fewer innings this year. Giving up Sanchez, as some suggested, plus other players and more money would be an irresponsible move by management; I am sure it won't happen.
  4. So you no longer think he is a massive ******* and biggest dick in baseball, as you posted yesterday?
  5. That sounds high considering that he was in AAA for most of last year, but maybe just an extra year for $2M. According to fangraphs his contract with the Cubs for 2014 was $2.3M, and it was $2.5M in 2015 with the LA Dodgers and Blue Jays, but it decreased to $1M with the Blue Jays this year.
  6. Darwin Barney has a WAR of 1.2 in 213 plate appearances and 68 games - http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=2430&position=2B . His contract is for 1 million dollars for one year (2016). He has shown that he is good at 3B, SS and 2B and decent in LF (he might even be good at LF). He can even catch in an emergency, and pitched an inning. He has close to league average run production; maybe now would be a good time for the Blue Jays to extend his contract while they can probably get him relatively cheaply.
  7. If you compare the fangraphs stats for Sale and Sanchez, Sanchez has been just as good as Sale this year at a fraction of the price. http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=10603&position=P http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=11490&position=P
  8. I would rather have Sanchez than Sale. Sale seems to be a bit of a loose cannon, and I think Sanchez is probably already better than Sale at a much lower price.
  9. As bad as the Minnesota Twins record is, they have a 25 - 28 record over the last 2 months since May 20th and 11 - 11 on the road during that time - http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/standings/index.jsp#20160520 The Twins might take a couple games from Boston this weekend.
  10. Not really, maybe Smoak can't play any other position well other than 1B; I just threw the question out there. PS: It is good that Blue Jay fans have come to expect good defense. It was only a year ago that Jose Reyes was throwing balls away at SS, and a couple of years ago they had Juan Francisco play some games at 3B, who had the fielding range of a pylon. The Blue Jays have become an enjoyable team to watch on defense, it wasn't that way a couple of years ago. So no, Smoak shouldn't play at 3B, especially since the Blue Jays have Barney to back up Donaldson. However, is Smoak slower than Saunders in LF - I am not suggesting him as a permanent replacement, just a fill in if required. Please no insults - I am just asking what would happen if Smoak was in LF? Would he have no range, he has a good accurate arm and a good glove. I have seen Smoak run into the foul territory to catch popups, so he does have some fielding range.
  11. You posts really confuse me at times. I am not trying to be argumentative, but I really don't get your meaning; do you agree or not? I know you are a long time poster, but for the ones who have only been posting for a couple of years, and can get banned for replying to long time posters with "lol" please give better explanations.
  12. There is no substance to this post.
  13. I think this contract extension will work out well for the Blue Jays. Last night Justin Smoak easily slapped a ball to the opposite field with the A's shifting him to pull - if Smoak can continue this approach when required, then he has shown with 100 home runs in 780 plate appearances that he has power - http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=9054&position=1B . I think with a slight change in approach, like he showed last night, that he can consistently be a wRC+ 125 player who is also a good defender at 1B. I wonder if Smoak could play another position when required, such as 3B or LF? Looking at his past MLB history, he has only played 1B. If he can only play 1B then that is a limitation, however he will have good trade value to some teams in the future if he can get his hit production up.
  14. I PVR'ed the game and watched it in fast motion so I didn't pay close attention to how Stroman was pitching; did he abandon some of his pitches because he didn't have control or the required movement on some of his pitches? Or did he just decide to go with a different game plan, if so, then isn't most of the pitch selection decided by Russel Martin and the coaching staff?
  15. Thank you for giving a good description of his performance without using xFIP or SIERA.
  16. It is good to see you posting again. It is good to have a mix of recent and old time posters.
  17. So Colabello is in Dunedin. It will be interesting to follow his progress.
  18. Got to appreciate Edwin Encaracion. Just the opposite for Remigio Pereira.
  19. It is possible that he cracked 100, I don't know, but according to fangraphs his vFA (Four Seam and Unclassified Fastballs) averages 96.1 and his vFT (Two Seam Fastballs) averages 98.5 mph - http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=5028&position=P (glossary of terms - http://www.fangraphs.com/library/pitching/complete-list-pitching/) His average velocities are actually up this year.
  20. Although Bo Schultz hasn't pitched many innings with the Blue Jays in 2015 and 2016, his performance so far this year has been very encouraging - http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=5028&position=P. His performance in the 19 inning game was incredible, so he deserves a closer look.
  21. Then fix it fool, you're the one who made the "typo" and posted it.
  22. Nope, 6 - 1 - http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2016_07_08_anamlb_balmlb_1#game=2016_07_08_anamlb_balmlb_1,game_state=Live Get your facts straight before posting them.
  23. Are you out of high school yet? Look at your avatar that is intended to annoy every one on this forum. I am supposed to believe that Atothe who insults every poster and almost every player, cares about a baseball player's daughter. I am glad to hear that a child is cancer free but I don't believe that Atothe has a soul.
  24. Do you have some sort of attention deficit disorder? How is this related to the Blue Jays playing the Detroit Tigers?
